To drshorty: I was born into a mormon family. But I have seen alot of things in the mormons church I dont like. I am not condeming theem or have any ill will towards them. I suggest you watch "The God Makers" and "The God Makers 2" They are old films but they speak alot of truth.

I was never a member of the church. I was just born into a family or mormons. They came from utah and everything. My grandparents even went to the temple and have had the hold undergarments.

Yeah they scare me. I've done hundreds of hours of research on that religion and it's bad. Really, really bad. Talking to many of their members I would have to say most of them don't have a clue as to what their religion is all about. I say most because if they did, they would run away from it as fast as they could. Truly a wolf in sheeps clothing, big time. Very mind controlled. Very heart hardened.

some of the people answering this question are completely ignorant... mormons are not polygamists. maybe some polygamists are mormon (barely) but those aren't the people who will go door to door attempting to spread what they believe is the word of god. that is the least intimidating type of person. some religions give people a mask to wear so they can do stupid crazy things in the name of religion*cough*islam*cough*, others get a sheet to hide under so they can do nothing as to not disrupt gods will i would put mormons in the second group. if you dont wanna hear them just close the door, if they push on the door or do anything other than turn away, punch em right in the fu c king eye.

There are lots of things that were invented by Mormons so I would stop complaining. If you don't like Mormons go throw out your TV, headphone, videogames, CD/DVD technology, radio, electric guitar, repeating rifle, automatic shotgun, zip drive, synthetic diamonds, and avoid traffic lights because they were invented by Mormons. They created techniques to farm out west, making the land livable for people today. Artificial hearts, heart bypass machine and various bionic bodyparts were invented by Mormons. Mormons contributed a lot to science and our technology and you (not the asker, the answerers with rude comments) seem to only be contributing your complaining to society.

On the mormon website they say they believe the bible and the book of mormon. They also say they believe in eternal marriage and quote:

Matthew 16:19 "And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven."

But if you read in Matthew 22:29-30 it says:
" Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God. For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven"

That contradicts what they believe. So as I see it - you either believe the bible or something that man came up with (like the book of mormon). Scary? Not really. Buy why claim to believe the bible - because when it comes down to it - they don't when it contradicts the book'o Mormon.

God bless you!

I was raised devoutly LDS and now that I'm an adult have *opened my eyes* to the blatant degredation of women *most* LDS socities have. I got PISSED off when the girls had to sit and learn to be good and chaste and virtuous at girls camp while the boys got to go horse back riding, swimming and spelunking! When I asked how come, they said 'that's the way it's done'...I didn't appreciate constantly having my virtue called into question when I questioned things while the boys got to go out and do fun stuff...I now enjoy my margaritas and my occasional smoke and am extremely unrepentatant. My closeness with God has not retreated--it's become stronger, but in *my* own way, not the Mormon way. I really pissed off my ward when I married a Jew! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

They dont scare me as such but some of them are very rude both mormans and jehovahs. I have had quite a few come to my door and harass me, When I say im not interested they keep on knocking or ringing door bell. One time I had a couple come to my door and when I went to close the door they put their foot in side so I couldnt close it.

I have had a dialog with one who contacted me about a response in which I offered to prove errors in Mormonism (or Christianity or Islam, all of which I am familiar with). He pronounced me a fool, but offered absolutely nothing in the way of either rebuttal or evidence. Evidently, having made up his mind, he is not interested in being distracted by anything as inconvenient as a fact. But I do have friends who are Mormons -- just not as narrowminded as my correspondent. I find this sort of dogmatic response most disturbing.

Mormons are regular people, not scary! They are not brainwashed, not polygamists, and they can take off their garments and wash them! Women in the church are strong, and most of the programs are successful because of women!
I wonder why you are afraid? Usually ignorance causes fear. If you want to really confront your fear, have some missionaries over. Let them talk to you, and you can ask questions.

I'm a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We're not scary. Maybe you just don't have enough information. To learn more, check out www.mormon.org.

(Chances are you're confusing my church with some other churches that have more questionable practices. A little information can go a long way.)
