If the smoke happened yesterday, I doubt it's hurting your throat today. Try drinking water and lots of throat-soothing liquids, and gargling with salt water.
Since you say sneezing, I have to agree that you might have the start of a cold. If so, then yes, lots of extra vitamin C and fruit juice, hot tea, bouillon, and garlic tablets. And my old favorite, hot lemon and honey. It shouldn't hurt you in any case, and might save you a ton of misery.

Take some vitamin C and drink a lot of water. If you have listerine or something similar try gargeling. If not, try warm salt water. It sounds like the smoke may have done a little damage. Since it to the soft tissue in the throat you are more susceptible to infection or a virus. Be careful and take those vitamins!

You may have strep. You may need penicillin. GO to the ER You'll get fever and pain, and Tylenol, etc., will not alleviate the symptoms It will only get worse tonight, and the fever will get through. PLEASE call someone and go to the ER. You do not need proof of insurance for emergency treatment tonight The suggestion below is good. It will give you a couple minutes relief, but will not make it better enough to let you go to sleep. Put a lot of salt in very, very warm water (don't scald yourself) and do some gargles. But again, if you have a bacterial infection, the relief won't last long and it will not help with the fever

you say a hot dog caused your throat to hurt, huh?? very interesting... i've heard of cases like this before...it's a medical condition commonly referred to as "stretch throat". usually, but not always involving sexual activity. like they say, time heals all wounds, just don't damage it again.
