They were not to eat from the tree in the midst [middle ], of the garden. The fruit is not named, there could have been dozens just like the one in the middle, Adam had been told not to eat from it or touch it. He told Eve, that is evident. Satan told her she would be as god [ I asume he meant like angels that do not die Luke 20:34-36; but did sin Jude 6; 2Pet.2:4 ]; as Satan desired to cause her to disobey all that God had said.
It was such a small and simple thing, do not touch the tree in the middle of the garden, if you do you will die.
She or they already had eyes and could see, but they felt ashamed and it showed as they wanted to cover up and hide from the one who told them not to touch the tree, and by this, God knew they were guilty of disobedience, and where would the blame be placed now? Adam blamed the woman, she blamed the Serpent and the guilt was an open book,
We are still being fruitful and multiplying and filling the earth and dying and turning to dust. Gen.3:19; Psm.49:14; 104.29.30. Rev.20:1-6,12,13; Heb.9:27;
1Cor.15:22; As in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.
We will have a new heavens and a new earth Rev.21:1-5; Perfect as it was before Eden. Gal.4:26; Rev.21:9,10; Rev.3:12; We will have new parents, the heavely head of the body with Christ.

As strange as some may find this, the act of disobedience was on the part of the man... not the woman.
God instructed the man not to eat of the tree that stood in the midst of the garden. We can presume the man passed this on to woman and that God himself did not give her the command because - quite frankly - nothing happened when she ate the fruit... but when the man did, that's when "the eyes of both of them were opened" (If you look, you'll notice that the woman was created after God gave the order to man).
So... the man was disobedient to God... the woman, who presumably new the instruction, was disobedient either to God or to her husband...
Incidentally... for those who are under the impression that God lied in that the result of the couple eating the fruit was not their immediate demise doesn't understand spiritual death... (Romans tell us the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life).
Spiritual Death is separation from God... and that was the result of Adam and Eve eating the forbidden fruit... they were separated from God.

They ate an apple from the forbidden apple tree. God spoke (fictionally) "The only rule that i set is that you do not eat the fruit of the apple tree". The snake tempted eve and she ate an apple and i'm pretty sure adam ate one aswell which then led to them being kicked out of Eden. And this became known as the act of disobedience or the Original Sin.

God told Adam and Eve to eat of all trees but one. Then Satan told Eve that God didn't really say that. She ate the fruit and then offered some to Adam, he ate. When God came around in the cool of the day, they hid from Him. Hope that answers the question. :>

They disobeyed God
Mother Eve disobeyed because of deception and Father Adam fell because his affection for his wife and it was not a
apple it doesn't say what fruit . I think it was just a Test for Obedience. Remember were are always being tested.

They ate from the Tree of Knowlege
Gen. Chapter 2
16And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:
17But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

There was a tree in the garden that God forbid them to eat from. They disobeyed and ate the fruit of that tree.
