First and maybe most importantly, don't go grocery shopping hungry - you'll want to buy everything. Next, make a list of things you need/want. Check the nutritional values given on the label - shows calories, fat, sodium, cholesterol, etc.
If you're trying to eat healthy, try to eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables. Choose whole grain breads/cereals. Try to choose more fish, chicken and seafood over beef and pork.
As far as juices, stay away from those that say "cocktail" because they have a lot of corn syrup in them. I realize cranberry juice (which is very good for you) would be sour tasting without a sweetener, but you can get the cran-grape, cran-raspberry, etc., blends that don't have the sweeteners added - look for 100% juice.
Lastly, remember, fresh is the best, frozen is next best, and canned is the the least best because so many nutrients are taken out during the canning process.
Hope this helps.

Never go to the grocery store hungry! For me, that is when I get a little weaker about the sugary snacks. Make sure to eat a healthy meal before you head shopping, and take a list of exactly what you need. It will still take willpower to avoid any fatty favorites, but this will make it much easier.

no its not really hard for me cause its only my husband n i but i plan our meals ahead of time n i make out my grocery list n stick to it..i dont buy alot of sweets but i do keep some around in case my sugar level drops,we do not eat pork or fried foods...maybe a hamburger once a month or fried fish but thats it..i mostly bake, grill, casserole dishes,etc.. n i use a cholestrol book to look up how much cholestrol is in each ingredient before i make it sometimes things can be substituted that has lower or no cholestrol..its time consuming but it works well...the most important thing is making the grocery list n sticking to it...

well, i recently stopped buying all my food at once--i used to only go grocery shopping once every two weeks. that made me have an abundance of food on hand, and i would usually eat all of the sweets up right away, as opposed to save them and make them last til next payday.
i now only buy what i need for a few days, that way i can really think about what i am eating, and if i crave something, i have to think about it on the way to the store, as opposed to just opening the cupboard and pulling out a snack.
;-)

its only hard the first time. Make a list of what you do not want to eat or do want to add. then when shopping look at the ingreds on everything. write down the things that you are allowed to have so next time you don't have to look at the ingreds. you will know. as for fruit always buy fresh when possible but if can is nec. look for it packed in 100% fruit juice or buy frozen if you can.

1.) I dont do groceries. LOL
2.) It's hard for everyone who try to eat only health food. Its called temptation. You just have to be strong enough to resist it.

Eat b4 you go. Make a list that fits your aim. Then do not get anything else. I keep a running list of what I buy and review it so I do not forget things.

Make a list and stick to it. Eat before you shop so you will be less likely to buy junk-craving types of foods.
