Ponder on this thought: "If you only believe in heaven OR hell after you die, then what does the scripture at John 5:28,29 mean to you? ( I would quote, but I would like for you to read for yourself.)

Honestly think about it....... If you ONLY go to heaven or hell, why would there be a NEED for resurrection??

Exactly! There is no need for a resurrection in heaven either.
If you think about it. The people are still believing the lie that Satan perpetrates and he's loving it!
After Armageddon, there is going to be a resurrection of the righteous and the unrighteous. Amen.
For dust we are and to dust we return. Not to heaven or to hell.

The Kingdom of God will take over the earth and rule--the only ones going to heaven are the Apostles and the anointed ones, which make up the Kingdom with Jesus as the King of the Kingdom. After 1000 years of Christ's rule and the restoration of mankind and the earth back to perfection, Christ hands the Kingship back to God, the Father and it will be just as it was in the beginning---no more human rule!!!

This goes along with the scripture..."The dead in Christ shall rise" and when Christ said "No man has entered into heaven except He that came down from heaven".

It is because there is a holding place before heaven. Remember that Christ said He is going to prepare a place for us which meant that it's not ready yet. When it is ready is when God will send Him back.

So if heaven isn't ready for us, then we can't go there. The holding place we go in the meantime has been referred to as "Abrahams busom". But that is a vague scripture and I wouldn't be dogmatic about it.

The soul goes into a sleep like state and we will be woken when Christ returns. That's why I laugh when people say their dead relatives are "looking down" on us...etc.
IF that person was saved or not, it doesn't matter...no one is in heaven yet.

This is why it's important to actually study what the bible says and stop being influenced by the world's misconceptions of God.

properly that may not the only christian thinking. Heaven and Hell are no longer actual what we are searching for. the top result would be the two eternal life or eternal destruction. The be conscious used for hell interior the OT is Sheol and the understanding interior the hot testomony (various the time) is Hades. It actual basically skill the Grave. This be conscious is used to consult with the death of the two stable and undesirable people. while the understanding is used for a stable individual, say David, it rather is translated Grave, yet while the understanding is used for a foul individual it rather is translated Hell. Jesus by no skill promised a life in Heaven yet eternal life. If heaven have been the objective then the oposite (Hell) could make sense inspite of frequency of use. yet while the top result's eternal life then the oposite (eternal death) purely is clever.

I think this is why some denominations believe in "soul sleep". That is you do not immediately go to Heaven or Hell but your soul sleeps until the rapture of the Saints and then the dead in Christ rise. The problem with this is that the Bible also says, "to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord" indicating that when a person dies they go immediately to Heaven or Hell. I believe however, that when a person dies their soul goes to Heaven or Hell. It is the body that is later resurrected to join with the soul. The physical body , according to the Bible, will be a new body that is perfect.

It isn't just Heaven or Hell. The resurrection is necessary to obtain a glorified body like Christ. During the time after death Jesus taught the spirits in prison (hell). On the third day he was resurrected. Had He only been a spirit, He would not have needed to show the empty tomb.

A resurrection is necessary in both instances. Our bodies are also part of our eternal rewards. Didn't Jesus say to the disciples at the last supper that he would not drink of the vine until He did it with his disciples in His kingdom? You have to be resurrected to drink anything in His kindgom, true or false. How can the unsaved stand in Revelation 20 and be shown their works out of the books if there isn't any resurrected people to show those works too. What you believe after death doesn't matter, believe now in Christ because death is untimely and too late.

You don't go directly to heaven when you die. You go in the grave (another way to translate the greek work for hell).

So that verse is true. We get gathered together when Christ comes back.

Read 1 Corinthians 15:51-54 -
"Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory."

Or better yet read 1 Thesalonians 4:13-18 -
"But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words"

When you are dead you are dead - not in heaven. Or else what does this verse mean?>
Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest. (Ecc 9:10)

No knowledge or wisdom in the grave? You must be dead then.

The dead know not anything: "For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten. - Ecc9:5

If you are in heaven right after you die then you would know things.

David isn't even in heaven: Acts 2:29 Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this day
...and it goes on to say in verse 31...He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.

I believe that we go where the bible says we go - in the grave until Christ returns for those of us who are saved.

God bless you!

i believe there will be a second coming when your soul will be reunited with your body and that on that day your true judgment will be given until then i believe your spirit will be either in heaven or hell or purgatory until the day of judgment arrives

Because false religion needed something to scare people into following their teachings as opposed to the "Truth" from the Bible.
