after the date you two go home in seperate vehicles you get home and you see you have a message on your cellphone or your house phone its from him, you hear the message and the message is that he just wanted to make sure you got home alright.

If he really wanted to be sure you got home ok he'd take you home or follow your vehicle and walk you from your car to the door. Its nicer than doing nothing though

I think it is a show of concern and would feel privileged to get a call like that unless he was a real dork on the date and is looking for an excuse to pester you more.
