I've been reading the dental section for a few months now, and it seems most people assume Invisalign costs more - maybe double - what traditional braces cost. I've just attended a national meeting of Invisalign dentists and none of them charge more. Where does this idea come from? Are orthodontists charging more for Invisalign?
If you think the price is higher, where did you get your information?

You need to get all the facts. Believe me I checked out everything because I did not want to get braces again. In some cases, invisalign is low in cost and done easily and quickly. Those are minor cases however. My mouth for example has perfectly strait teeth. Its the shape of my mouth that needs to be fix; My top row and bottom row of teeth dont touch. To get invisalign I would have had to worn them a lot longer and it would have cost a couple thousand more. This isnt info from my dentist but from an employee of invisalign. She came out to look at my case and even after all that she didnt guarentee it would work. Therefore invisalign is best for minor cases. I will however get an invisaline retainer instead of a metal one. I also looked into the ceramic, Damon 3 System, and lingual braces but the best still came to be traditional metal braces. It stinks but you got to do what you got to do.

I've wondered the same thing. In my rural South Jersey general practice, I charge $3,000 for most Invisalign cases, which is quite a bit less than traditional braces in most cases. I have heard that some charge more for Invisalign than they do for braces, though. The thing is, I am not a specialist and I choose to do only "easy" cases that will not require extra devices to be used in conjunction with Invisalign. This can add to the fee significantly.

i work 4 an orthodontist and he charges more for invisalign. just get the braces! brackets are so small that you can hardly see them and i know with invisalign it you start to feel pressure or pain....out they go.

I just got them a few weeks ago. At my orthodontist, they are about a $1000 more expensive than regular braces. Prior to that, I had a consultation with a different orthodontist, and the price difference was about the same.
