I had a 2004 Dodge Neon.....I bought it used in Baton Rouge last year. It gave me some problems but only because they sold it to me after it was involved in a wreck. A mechanic at another Dodge place pointed it out to me. The neon kept going dead on me.......it wouldn't always start. So I traded it for a Stratus. Love it. Actually the Neon was a great car until I had those problems.

I owned a Dodge Neon 1999, it was a good car, good running car, the only wrong with it was that every time I turned the air on, the car would get hot. Was never able to find out what was wrong with it. But I did love that car. I sold it to my son and the next day a tree got in his way and my poor car was totaled. My poor boy is still paying me for it. My car was dark green.

i had a 2003 neon R/T. 5 speed. I really wasn't impressed with it, because it wasnt that fun to drive, but it was fun, and it was surprisningly roomy for its size, and for a 5 11, 230 pound guy.
I was really impressed when a ford f150 driven by a drunk, smashed into the nose of the car at the driver side front wheel.
The neon was fixable, and i was able to get out (from the passenger side). I was shaken up, but i had no damage.
I really liked it for what it did.

Well I must of had a lemon
My neon was a 96. That damn thing was cursed to no end.
I bought it brand new, engine problems, stearing fluid always leaked, it was towed by an officer making a plate number mistake claiming it was stolen when it wasn't...I had to pay to get out of impound and prove it was my car, and after all of that...a drunk ran a red light and hit me head on. After having it repaired, my ex husband didn't like it because he kept complaining it was made in Mexico and talked me into trading it in for a car that he ended up selling a year later. and then I had no neon.
But..It was sure fun to drive on its good days.

Sorry to disagree but the Neon is not among the best choices in that class of car.
Everything about the Neon seems to say "cheap."
I know it IS a cheap car but there are better values out there.
Consider a Ford Focus.

I had a 95 Neon for 8 years. There was one recall for a steering knuckle and the radio died. Not bad for 80,000 miles.

I have a 99...had it since it was brand new..never had one problem with it yet.I have to get two new tires shortly, but that will be the first time I will have to spend any money on it,besides the usual oil changes, inspections, etc.I love it.I was hit last year by someone who went through a stop sign,I begged them, please don't total my car!Luckily the damage wasn't severe enough for that to happen.

I currently own two 95 Neons (a manual and automatic). I fix them up. They both run good, I just trick them out and sell 'em.
