Well considering I am a flight attendant for the largest air carrier in the world. I started out at $18/hr and am now making about $25/hr. Remember this is only flying time. You do not get paid until the aircraft pushes back from the gate and you stop being paid once the aircraft arrives at the destination gate. That's right. When you see those flight attendants hanging around the airports or if a flight is delayed we are not getting any pay. That includes boarding passengers and deplaning the passengers and sometimes cleaning the plane. Raises are usually once a year up to a cap of like $50/hr. Benefits such as health and dental insurance are great. Flying privileges are stand-by only and with ticket prices being the price of a Greyhound bus ticket....you get all the classy people from Greyhound filling up all the seats. Most flights are now always full...so good luck. Also you only fly about 80-100 hrs a month. So don't think you are putting in 40 hr work weeks at the pay scale mentioned above.

The salary/remuneration for a particular job is the market value for a particular profession and designation at the city/town where the office is located. Job postings at websites like Monster, Yahoo HotJobs and Careerbuilder carry information about salaries. The Govt Dept of Labor, (www.bls.gov) Bureau of statistics has information about median salaries for different professions and details of additional compensation offered. Other online resources are salary.com and payscale. Your salary will also depend on your educational qualification and how you handle your career. I am a retired flight attendant. I started out at 18.00/hr many years ago and peaked at 46.00/hr. Raises were once per year. This was for a major airline. The small, regional airlines pay considerably less.
