Very sorry to hear about your loss.Your Grandmother's siblings are first to be contacted as next of kin. If there are no brothers or sisters, and your father cannot be contacted, your Aunts/ Uncles would be next to be contacted. If your father is an only child, grandchildren would be next. I hope that this helps you.

Next of kin, assuming, there are no more son's or daughter's etc. would be backing up one generation. In this case, your grandmother's brother or sister. In other words, if no one is under her in relationship, than you go next to her. If no one is next to her, than you go before her. True this makes it more complex since, most before and at times some or most are no longer living, but where else would you go?

Does your father have any siblings as they would be the next of kin and failing that the grandmothers grandchildren.

Check with whoever is asking about the next of kin before getting too concerned about it. It may be that they have to locate your father or you may qualify as the next of kin. Check with an attorney if this has anything to do with assets.

if your grandmother has any other living children then the oldest of these children would be "next of kin" If there is no living children for your grandmother then it would be the oldest living grandchild

Sorry to hear about your grandmother. It would be first the deceased person's oldest living child, then the oldest living grandchild then the oldest living sibling

The Line of priority is:

Her spouse
Her children
Her siblings
her nieces and nephews

Don't be surprised if they find your father. You'd be amazed how simple it really is to find someone. all you need is a birthdate or social security number.

if your father didn't have any brothers or sisters or if they are also "MIA" then you're right, it would be you. Good luck, I'm sorry your grandmother passed away.
