goood heavens! can't you people read? have you no inductive or deductive reasoning capabilities at all? only the most profoundly ignorant people debate the existence of Jesus.
if you must know, you can find definitive (not to mention from an actively hostile witness) proof of his life and crucifixion in the gathered Works of Josephus. Josephus was a hebrew historian at the time of the final sack of jerusalem. he was considered a roman sympathizer by the jews of his time, but he was a first rate historian. he mentions jesus, not as a myth, but as an historical figure. and for the record, there is no indication that josephus was remotely religious, or that he ever converted to christianity. he was simply recording true historic events, and all indications are that he was somewhat hostile to the christian religion.

do a little homework!

ps. thank you brother mitch!

There is quite a bit of authentic historicity about Jesus, so much so that there are very few historians that would doubt Jesus' existence.

Although a number of people reject the Bible, it is surprisingly really good evidence for Jesus' existence. One, it was written close to the time in which he lived. Those who had eyewitness accounts were still alive when the whole of the New Testament was written. John and Peter were two authors who were in Jesus' inner circle.

Second, the testimony of the early church gives credence to the claims of the apostles. The church underwent severe persecution under Nero and from the Jews. If Jesus wasn't serious, then it seems that he wouldn’t be worth dying for. But the early Christians did die for their beliefs, and in great numbers.

Third, there are non-Christian references to Jesus' existence. Josephus is one such person. He mentions Jesus in his history, the Antiquities of the Jews.

One could go on and on about the historicity of Jesus. It seems like it should go without question, but it doesn't. Naturally there are skeptics. The odd part about it though is that a lot of historians who would reject evidence for Jesus' existence would accept it for somebody else. This seems to me to be a double standard.

A good person to read on the matter is NT Wright. He is a prominent scholar in Jesus' history.

Sort of, although they don't provide much in the way of historical data.
A Jewish historian names Josephus twice refered to Jesus in a writing called "Jewish Antiquities," calling Jesus a "wise man" and recalling that Jesus was crucified.
A Roman historian names Tacitus blamed a fire started in Rome in 64 on the Christians, and noted that the Christians followed an executed criminal called Christ.
A second-century writer called Suetonius referred to an episode in Rome in 49, when Jews were disturbing the peace at the instigation of a person called Chrestus.
These aren't much, but they at least provide some outside evidence for the historical existence of Jesus.
As far as the details are concerned, that's unknown and never will be outside of faith that the gospels report historical truth.

The bible wasn't just some made up story. It has been studied and researched, and documented with gospels that were found to be written during that era. In the least you should study the bible with a historians point of view... it's truly amazing. Think about it- forget the fanatics. Why would so many people believe? Why would so many people follow the bible if it was thought to be made up? People aren't just sheep. Read it and you'll see many things that are proven historically. It's interesting.

Yes, there is one that I trust as an academic. "A Marginal Jew, rethinking the historical Jesus" by John P. Meier. Published by Doubleday and it comes in four volumes. The documents of the Christian New Testament are fine pieces of literature but biography in the first couple of centuries of the Common Era were not exactly what we are used to as history, more hagiography. We know he was a real man but finding the historical figure always proves problematic. Meier is expencive but a good library will order it in for you. Shalom.
