Most children don't have a concept of someone's existance being "illegal". That's an adult sensibility born of adult concerns.

Most of my kindergarten year was spent in West Baldwin, Maine -- I very much doubt that there were any illegal immigrants there in the 1970s. Not that the issue of illegal immigration was something I'd have had any awareness of at the age of 5...

Certainly no because children in kindergarten have no idea to think about that who among them are illegal. They will know each other as a good or bad or naughty friend only.

Up until I was standing inside a hospital listening to a tn redneck yelling at a dr which is well respected in our small country hospital that she had no right to be in our country, yea I guess I would say that immigration illegals... and so on whas a bad thing. however, after much thought and realizing that working in the medical feild and also working several years in a teaching hosptial, I came to the conclusion that us americans, are to lazy to commit ourselves to the dedication it takes to become anything of value besides being a factory worker as a norm, we dont have the disapline to properly study medicine, and other things of high importance, and if it wasn't for allowing people to come to come to our country, then we wouldn't have drs who are as of such high value as we have. My son which has had severe congiential health problems has all Indian Drs, and I have to say they are the best group of people I have ever came across, they took an infant from failure to thrive to a normal happy healthy 1 year old, and I will feel that I owe a world of thanks to those drs. The American Dr he did have, well he wasn't up to par, and after 3 months of only being out of the hostpital long enough to wash our clothes, and back in again, I FIRED him. I fired him because he was not willing to do anything but a surgical procedure on my child. The next GI doc that I hired the indian man, had a few suggestions, that made a difference in my childs health, kept him from being on life support with a feeding tube.
this goes to prove, with personal experience, and with working with different doctors, I have to say I don't care who is here in our country, we wouldn't all be here if it wastn' for immigration.
The answer to the question, no I didn't wonder, I didn't know there was a difference in people. I wish that our country can stand together and look around and say, the majority of these "illegals" have something GREAT to offer us, as much as our freedom and way of life has to offer them. They are just people like our ancestors who are just trying to better themselves, and help their families.
I think that this country needs some tollerence and openmindedness, and realize that we are a melting pot of people, that like the clown fish and the ameba they have a lot to offer us, as we do them.
Its sad that not everyone veiws it that way.
also to add, no I am not mexican, black, irainian, indian. I am white, with a mix of cherokee, irish, and scotish. Hey, the typical mix that every other self proclaimed "american" is.

I wondered if she would play 'stack the blocks up' with me, and then maybe push me on the swing. It wasn't until adults told me about skin colour, language, foods, clothing, and accents that I learned who was and who wasn't 'my kind'. Hooray for adults looking out for our children, making sure that we are taught truth and justice, and just who to hate!

No, I thought the other children were sinners.
I didn't want to sit by them at first.
(My parents are religious nuts.)
