You are right in a way.The first animal killed according to Christian teaching was to be used to cover the bodies of Adam and Eve. The sacrifice of animals continued until the death of Jesus. In most slaughter houses, it is about making money rather than about sacrifice. I would like to have the discipline to stop eating meat for other reasons than religion. (Even though, I am a Christian.) I admire anyone strong enough to give up eating meat what ever the motive.

Interesting point...however I'm sure that people were slaughtering animals for food long before Christianity took over the world. Cavemen had to eat something!
I think the "atheist way" to kill an animal would be to simply kill it humanely. We don't have to worry about certain religious laws that regulate how we kill our meat, so as long as you don't live in one of the countries that religiously kill meat, it's not a problem. However, there are lots of other good reasons not to eat meat; I wish I had the discipline to go vegetarian!

As far as I know, the majority of cougars are agnostic, if not outright atheist. Human cultures mix meat and ritual as a way to say thank you for their continued survival. In Judaism, Islam and other religions, health is important, both physically and spiritually. Since animal food can kill people is wrongly prepared, lots of religions tell you what and how to eat. But religion isn't the cause of meat-eating.

human beings are quick to imagine they're doing the right ingredient through no longer eating meat yet there's a huge variety of soreness and suffering to get eggs and milk... even as i change right into a vegetarian and under no circumstances yet vegan i finished eating all meat and in worry-free words ate community or shown organic and organic eggs and milk. That right away grew to change into too complicated to mentally settle for and that i grew to change into vegan. each and every each and every now and then it receives complicated to no longer eat any animal products, it takes an excellent variety of information and self-discipline to ascertain i'm in worry-free words eating flora. countless the products which i presumed were vegan at the prompt are not continually: sugar, beer/wine, "veggie" cheese... those who're eating animal products which include eggs and milk and affirming that the animals are nonetheless residing so it really is okay desire a slap on the back of the top. Is it more beneficial cruel to homicide a cow or torture it for destiny years to a similar effect... cruelty, suffering, soreness, and finally inhumane demise??

An atheist who is a vegitarian,I heard it all now. When God brought forth the great flood and Noah and his family and an ark full of animals were fianally dry docked everything was destroyed,( plant wise) so the only thing they had to eat was animals cause all the vegitation was destroyed. Before that, the only thing animals were raised for was wool.eggs, a beast to pull or haul something and that was it After the Great Flood was when Man started to eat meat

Actually the first animals recorded killed in the Bible were the ones God skinned to make Adam and Eve a covering. After the flood God said all things are Ok to eat(before that He said eat just the plants) just don't eat the blood. As far as an ateist way to kill,if it has no soul and no afterlife just pop it in the head with a .22 and have a Bar-B-Q.Yum Yum.

no. slaguthering animal started because humans need to eat. Our ancestors are hunter- gatherers. ie. They kill and eat the animals.
Humans have done that for a long long time, well before religion surfaced, probably even before any stable culture was established.

Besides, I am sure you buy a few live chickens and kill them the non-religious way even in Saudi Arabia.

Once upon a time an early type of man was out eating berries and things like peaches, apples, plums and pears off of the trees and bushes in a beautifull area, but where exstreamly bored, in fact bored to death with the lack of choices.
One day they seen a lizard eat a dragonfly and thought "hum i wonder" so they grabed the next dragonflys they came across and ate them, thinking (not bad but needs sodium cloride)
Later that day they went back to where they had seen the lizard and ate it. This was good so they grabed a bunch of em and took them home and latter started a fast food chain, right after there home burned down, ****** a few that were left over, and captured fire for the BBQ pit.
Speaking of pit that reminds me of a web site i seen the other day sickening me to the core it was www.bottomlesspit.net

I think people started salughtering animals because they were hungry. Meat tastes good and it is useful for food.

The Jews slaughtered animals as a pictoral representation of the cost of sin. Sure, it was a religious ceremony, but they also burned grain, so should we not eat grain because it was a religious ceremony? No. Like meat, it tastes good and is useful for food, so we eat it.

To each his own, but my uncle owned a slaughter house and he never did a religious rite over the animals. I don't eat meat because I love animals and can live without meat. I think that's a lame excuse you have there.
