I believe that a truly gay person is born that way. The only choice is the pain and suffering of pretending they aren't. I have talked to a few people who say they were
"gay for awhile"...impossible, they were just playing around with their sense of rebellion and curiosity.

Being a homosexual is not a choice that a person just makes. If people would choose to be gay then they are also choosing, by being gay, to be hated, discriminated against, feared, and in some cases have violent harm come to them. Given that, then why would a person choose to be gay? Some homosexuals fear others knowing about them because of the abuse and intolerance some people have towards them and that is wrong. People shouldn't live their lives trying to be something that they are not just to appease the shallow-minded mass.
I have the good fortune of having gay friends, none of which have said that they chose to be gay. And I would trade their friendship for anything!

I do not know about suddenly assuming but let me tell you why I know in the case of some gays, is that it is a choice. I know that for several reasons one I served time as the beard of a lesbian, and she told me it was a chioce"her exact words were that it was like eating that extra piece of pie. Second reason is that I have been around long enough to know that this "I was born that way" is a new perspective. When I was young and at that time I knew several gay men because they really liked me, there was no talk about "I was born that way" and nobody ever used that as a justification. Shrinks believed it was choice, and they were talking to gays all the time to help with their problems. Here's what I think some Gays were born Gay or some trauma did something to them b4 they were born, as evidenced by one Identical twin being Gay, but this is a small percentage of the practicing homsexual population. For those who choose it is just easier if people think it is not a decision but inherited.
Christian conservtives make a really big mistake in condemning Gay people and making a big deal of it because when the Bible lists people who are not going to heaven Wisperers, are listed right along side practicing Gays and many churches are ful of whisperers and one thing they like to whisper about is how bad Gays are and how they are ruining society. I'll tell you who ruins society it is whiperers with their charactor assassination.
So who really cares if these whisperers want to assume Gays make achoice to be Gay. One thing for sure Gay's have the choice to practice or not to, and whiperers are not going to heaven and the evangelical community is going to let them both spend eternity in outer darkness, because they are not being of any help to either.
It is much better to be critical of any group by understanding them and talking to them and understanding and then be critical in a friendly way in private, whether you be critical of Gays or Evangelicals

These people that say homosexuality is a choice are living in a fantasy world where there is no such thing as being gay. They want to think it's a choice because it will make them feel safer. You're right. It's not a choice. There's scientific evidence to back that statement up. Blessed be!

This is my own personal experience so all you queens out there can save the remarks about this not being you:
Every gay person I have ever known has been emotionally unstable or hurting. They abuse drugs and tend to be promiscuous. This makes me think that they were not born that way but that some circumstance made them become gay.
I'm serious. Think about the homos you've known. They are always in pain even if it doesn't seem like it. They hide it well with their humor and personalities. They're actually pretty fun to be with.

Someone once posed the issue to me thusly:
Homosexuals have been the objects of scorn, ridicule, persecution, and injustice for hundreds of years. Because Western society have come to believe that penile-vaginal sexual intercourse between a man and a woman is the normative sexual experience, anything else is therefore abnormal. A young person who discovers that she or he is more attracted to other forms of sexual expression is presented with a difficult choice about his or her personal behavior: deny themselves or practice a lifestyle deemed abnormal and depraved. Assuming people will always eventually be true to themselves, this person has set himself or herself against the grain of socially acceptable behavior and is then subject to all that scorn, ridicule, persecution, and derision. Why (and how) could anyone actually choose that? I don't know if homosexuality is genetic or a choice, but it's difficult for me to believe that anyone would choose scorn and ridicule.

I think it comes from a literal interpretation of the scripture. Catholics believe homosexual acts are sinful because they interpret that God made sex only for procreation between a man and a woman. I'm not sure about protestants, but I'm supposing it's similar.
But I've asked myself that too; if they're not gay, how do they know what it's like? I'm gay, and I never made a choice...in fact I hoped it was a phase so I could be normal. Well, that wasted three years of my life. I'm tons happier accepting it!

Just because you have the desire to do something does not mean that you have to do it. I knew a gay man once who told me that he always felt attracted to males as far back as he could remember. However, he still had a choice whether or not to act on it.

It is not always a choice. Anyone here who says it is needs to learn more.
God might create them. It is a possiblity. Predestination. God does create savants, geniuses, retarded people, blind people, mute people. Or is that and indication you are tainted, if so how do Chistians feel when they bear a mute or find out their kid is gay. God punishing you!?
A lot of homosexulas I've talked with tell me they knew by age 5 what they were. They didn't realize it was "contrary" to the "norm" or "majorty" of things, but they knew what they were. By the age of 8 they knew enough to hide in the closet.
Some do it as a personal choice. Those are different.
Right now a lot of college girls experiment with bi-sexuality. I would tend to say, seeing as how I have access to what they do, 75% kiss other girls on a regular basis (they also do pot and beer bongs).
Some of not many of these girls wear crusifixes around their necks.
Most of them consider this innocent epxerimentations in sex and drugs and rock and roll.
The Amish let their teenagers do this. They kick them out at age 18 and make them go into the City to live as "normal" people for a short while, then if they want to come back they can.
LEt's get something absolutely clear, Christians ALL sex acts outside of marriage including fondling, mastrubation and intercourse is ANTI-REligioius and Anti-Christians, yet so many Christians girls have full term babies 5 or 6 months after their get their church wedding. And they all think they are going to heaven!
If they get to go to heaven for "screwing around" before the wedding, why shouldn't the queer boys and girls get an equal chance!
I mean BOTH are violating the bible!
What, you can GET AWAY WITH IT because you're HETRO
Where in the Bible does it say that.
There are close to 500 CITATIONS AGAINST FORNICATION and only a handful against men and women layig with each other like a they do with a spouse.
So, the bible is about 50 times more hostile to HETEROs then HOMOs.
Yet at least 50% of the christians out there screw around outside of marraige, GET DIVORCED AT WILL depite the fact that that IN THE BIBLE JESUS SAID DIVORCE IS ONLY FOR ADULTERY and no other reason.
Do divorced PRotestatns go to heaven!
Well, folks, Jesus said you did a no-no.
Does that mean JESUS revokes your salvation because you fell out of love and got a NO FAULT divorce for NO GOOD REASON other than you were SICK of being that person!
YOu have to think about ALL THESE FACTORS.
CHRISTIANS, JEWS, MUSLIMS and HINDUS who are NOT virgins on their wedding nights HAVE VIOLATED THE BIBLE 500 times over.
IF queers can't get away with violating Bible, neither can you.
ALL of you can rot in hell together then.
Or all of you can go to heaven together.
Why are you in hell?
I had sex with farm animals.
Why are you in hell?
I had sex with another man, many other men.
Why are you in hell?
I kissed my girl roomate in college just for the fun of it.
Why are you in hell?
I let my fiance look at and touch my breasts the day before we got married, because I wanted to make sure he liked what he was getting.
ALL of these things are SINS in the Bible.
Does JEsus save them all?
Why not!
Where in the bible does it SPECIFICALLY SAY, Jesus won't forgive that sin.
The only sin I remember Jesus not explictily forgiving was the one from the second theif on the cross, so obviously one theif got forgiven and the other didn't.
So there you have it, Jesus and God will PICK and choose at "end of times" time.
It's called the book of life.
Who will be disapointed if their name is not in there!
Who will be angry if the queer or the atheist or the theif gets into heaven, if their name, for some reason, is in that book.
Only God knows why and only God decides.
