Has anyone been through this. I am in the AF and grew up a military brat so basically I am kinda nervous about going into the civilian world. I want to get into Law Enforcement and family that work for the Prince Georges County PD in Maryland so I know that getting in wouldnt be a problem. Has anyone else been nervous about this and how did it turn out for you....

I still plan on staying Guard or Reserve...

I'm in the same boat as you. 4 years in the army and a military brat the rest of my life. I'm currently transitioning right now from the army as a medic. Went to school in order to bring my certifications up to par with my previous training and am now going to start as a paramedic next month. Its a little hair raising at first wondering what to do on many different issues, however if you have the training or will to train to be in the PD then it really shouldn't be a problem, especially if you have a foot in the door by way of the family. Go for it! A little fear is expected response but not a reason to stay in when there is so much out in the civilian world that you can do and be appreciated better for.

it is HARD,almost like leaving prison after a long strech.thats why they say NCO stands for No Chance Outside.some times you will wake up in the middle of the night sweating and the only thing that will help is PT !

Funny, I'm the opposite....excited yet scared of transitioning into the military life style. Be confident.
