if you heat them up in the microwave use a papertowel and in the pot use a lid

put the meatballs on a plate and then cover it with a napkin so it will not get all inside the microwave. They sell covers for food to go in the microwave, because I have one. Just make sure there is a way for the heat to espace, because if there isn't your microwave might explode. That almost happened to me.

It is hard to say what you are really asking. In microwave i use dampen paertowel, or plastic wrap, on the cook top plastic would melt, if ur container has plastic lid, crack it so steam dont build and melt dish, or burn u whe you lift it up after heating. Be careful
