A lifetime is a grain of sand on the beach of eternity, so is it really fair to be punished forever? Plus, those that believe in God agree that God loves us; so why would he let us "burn" forever if he really loved us. I know what I think, but what do you think?

I think some things done on earth are worthy of eternal damnation (serial killers, child molesters, Hitler, etc) but the whole idea that not saying some prayer will get you the same punishment as the above mentioned sickos is ludicrous. God is much smarter than that, and I am sure the punishment we experience in the afterlife is much more just than mainstream Christians would like us to believe.

The promise of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus. Those who do not have that life in Christ cannot live forever -- period end of subject.

If a person were to burn forever in hell it would mean that God granted them eternal life in Christ.

To repeat. Those who reject Christ cannot live forever. Those who never heard the gospel of Christ in power, that includes many subscribers to Christianity, will be judged according to their light and their deeds.

Scripture states that hell was prepared for the devil and his angels. It was not prepared for mankind. Further, God is not willing that any should perish.

There will be a time of punishment for false religious leaders of all faiths who teach for money and leaders, high and low, who subvert justice and equity for money.

Those bound for punishment and awaiting judgment are sustained by the same life that now sustains life in the flesh, but that life is not eternal.

What you and I think about this subject doesn't change anything. God has the answers and what Scripture answers is the only answer.

If some of the so-called great theologians had considered what God said, and not what they thought about what He said, we wouldn't be needing this forum.

"Fair" doesn't enter into it. God is a God of love, mercy and grace, but He is also righteous, holy and just. None of His attributes can override another. One sin offends His holiness and is worthy of eternal death. God cannot allow sin into His Heaven. He has offered one way of escape, one way of forgiveness, Jesus Christ. You cannot earn your way in nor do enough "good" deeds to get in. Even if you were the most charitable, loving, giving person in the world, you still have sinned in your life at some time. All the good deeds will not negate or forgive that sin. It has to be dealt with some way. Some choose to deny sin or ignore it, but that is like standing on a highway and refusing to acknowledge an oncoming car. It is there and it will kill you unless action is taken. So it is with sin. So there are your choices, receive God's forgiveness for your sins through the blood of Christ, or try to get there on your own merits, which is doomed to fail.

Whoever told you life was fair is a liar. God is loving and we will burn in hell because of our own choices. Did your father punish you for wrong doing, if so, then why would the father of fathers be any different. Your earthly father loves you and punished you. You heavenly father loves you and will punish you. Hell is an awful price to pay, but all I can say is follow the Lord and his truths and be with God the father in Heaven. God Bless!!

God IS a God of love, but He is also a God of justice. The Bible tells us clearly what we must do to avoid burning in hell. It's easy and it's free, but God made the rules and we have to play by them. Because God has provided a "way out" for us, anyone who goes to hell is actually choosing to go there.

Why would He let someone "burn" forever? Because that is the choice the person made. God does not want anyone to go to hell...that's why His Son paid for our sins by His death on the cross.

Heaven requires perfection. One lie told in our lifetime makes us not perfect. We couldn't pay so Jesus paid for us with His blood when He died on the cross. We can accept His sacrifice as the payment for our sins or we can refuse to accept it. The choice is ours to make. Accept the payment and heaven is ours. Refuse to accept it and hell is ours. It's that easy. What is your choice going to be?

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that WHOSOEVER believeth on Him should not perish but have everlasting life." John 3:16

this is a lie that has been perpetuated by lack of expertise for hundreds of years. there is no eternal torment in hell. The wages of sin is dying, undeniable and easy. Now take a deep breath and start up interpreting the bible for your self. edit: to "cbmultiplechoice"...there is one concern including your occasion. The "sub" ain't in hell. he's seated on the main suitable hand of God. How does that artwork including your "regulations" occasion?

It would be extremely unfair to be sentenced to an eternity in hell for our actions in about 80 years of life. Especially since most of the things that happen in life are out of our control. I think hell is just a concept used to scare people into religious belief. By that same principle, it would also be unjust to give people an eternity of bliss. The more I think about the concept of heaven/hell, the more irrational it seems. I just focus on this life. Whatever comes after, I'll cross that bridge when I get there.

No.

You have a choice as to how to live.

If you view women as some play toy or sex object.

If you view the natural resources of the Earth as something you can pilalge.

If you dump tons of greenhouse gases into the air and make babies and old people cough.

Those are YOUR choices!

Live with them.

If it makes you rot in hell, then consider living a better life while you still can!

It is not unfair. The Lord Jesus Christ came to earth as a man so He could die on the cross for your sins. He was buried and took your sins away and He rose again the third day for your justification. If you reject what He did for you then it is not unfair because you chose not to believe and trust in that. Don't make God unfair because of your bad decision. 1 Corinthians 15: 3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 1 Corinthians 15: 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: Romans 4: 25 Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.

What is this fair stuff. I don't get it. Are you God? No. God says one sin can keep us out of heaven. ONE. A holy God cannot look upon any sin at all, that's why Jesus died on a cross, to pay the price for YOUR sins. Now...is that fair, that a perfect man would die a horrible death on a cross for someone that argues with Him?
