thank you to shootermcavern, I am thinking I might have to hire an attorney. I am disabled and went through the whole 9 yards, and all of the red tape. It isnt fun, when you can not walk because you are in a ton of pain.

u didnt say if u received ssi or ssdi cause its a big difference in the two.ssi benefits is paid by the government that is funded by the taxpayers dollars.they r very strict on any income u receive.however,if u received ssdi which is paid by the government which was funded by u in which u have previously worked n earned ur own social security credit.in other words i collect my own social security...i can work for 9 months straight n make as much money as possible but i have to follow the doctors orders as to how many hours a week i can work.unfortunately i tried to go back to work but my illness has worsen so i cannot no longer work.but if i had continued to work past the 9 months then they would adjust my check...they wouldnt cut it off...now maybe social services may cut the medicaid off but not my medicare.visit the social security office n request a meeting with someone n see what they say then if that does no good then get u a lawyer.

You can appeal. Hire an attorney. Go to the website for the National Organization of Social Security Claimants Representatives and find one in your town. They work on commission, so if you don't win, you don't have to pay.
Also, the magic number is $860 a month gross for straight disability, but lower for SSI. You can deduct any expenses you spent on medical and prescriptions. The rules are a little different for SSI, and dependent somewhat on where you live. Which is why you need to hire a lawyer.
Are they saying you aren't disabled any more because you can work? Or are they saying that even though you are disabled, you are making too much money and so you can't mooch off the government anymore? Depending on which sort of problem you are dealing with, your solution will be different. Another reason to hire a lawyer.
Some states have legal aid programs which will represent the poor for free.
Good luck and don't let the government scam you. They are really good at slacking at their jobs and leaving you high and dry.
And don't listen to these people saying you should go back to work if you truly aren't able to work. I'm a republican, but I believe that some people really can't work full time, which is why we have SS in this country. IF you've been awarded benefits before, then you are probably truly disabled ... I know they are hard to win. So, don't give up without a fight, unless you really can work full time now, in which case, good luck working!
You only have 10 days to appeal if you want to keep your benefits coming during the appeal process. You have 60 days otherwise. Don't let time get away from you or you'll have to start all over.

ssdi and ssi are two totally different cases.
one will allow you to work, while they do take money to a certain degree.
the other one they will just take away.
i know because i thought of working part time from home on my "good days" however, i found out before i took the job as to my rights.
i opted for my measly check as i couldn't afford to lose it and then have to re-apply.
good luck
***** to those very rude and inconsiderate posters who have NO idea what it's like to live in pain or chronic illness.....you really need to open your eyes, one day it might be you. no matter who you are, you have to fight to win ss benefits. the way life is, one day your fine, the next second your not. ssi or ssdi is NOT free money by all means. i worked and put into the system, although due to hcv not much. my parents who had me paid into the system and my grandparents before that. so get off your ill minded theory and work your *** off, cuz you never know when illness will strike. last, but not least....GROW UP.
-lived with hcv since i was 8 years of age.

How long have you been working? If it has been more than nine months then what you have done is proven you can handle a job! If you can handle a job and still do not make enough income apply for public assistance. If you can't then you should have quit before your nine months was up!! If you have worked less than nine months and feel you will not be able to keep the job quit now! They are not allowed to remove you though if you have worked less than nine months!!

there is a "right to work" federal program that should be able to help you with this. you will need to call you social security office and ask for the information. I work with several people who have used this program and they are able to keep their benefits. You can also look up "right to work" on the net for more info

If you're able to work then you should work and that way you can accrue more value into your social security fund and then the amount you get back later will be much better.

It would probably "benefit" you to go back to school and learn how to spell, then get a real job so that you don't have to panhandle from the government anymore.
