It is loads better than anyplace buried under three feet of snow three to four months a year, anyplace where a dozen people get murdered on an average weekend, way better than a city choking on smog. The cost of living is high, if you can't earn at least two thousand a month then stay whereever you are comnfortable making less than that - - [ since there are a lot of tourists you will need to stay at least five years before people get comfortable with the thought that you won't be running away. The work world is one where no one rocls the boat. If you are the type who wants to change things, shake things up around the workplace, you won't be received very well. It can be daunting living on an Island. There is no hitchhiking to the next city or state. If you like to swim & surf then this is the city for you. Peace.

Good points: people are friendly and interesting (multicultural); food is outstanding; incredible scenery; very warm climate (when it gets down to 65 F people start putting on jackets!). Lots of outdoor activities: swimming, surfing, windsurfing, hiking. More men than women (this could be a good point or a bad point, depending on your personal point of view!).
Bad points: rush-hour traffic is truly awful and lasts about 4 hours twice a day. Very expensive place to live--salaries don't begin to keep up with the cost of living. Either renting an apt or buying a house is very, very expensive. Food costs a lot. Sales tax on everything, including groceries. Some people get "island fever"--Oahu is only 38 miles in each direction.

Toronto isn't something like American cities. The crime costs there are very low - far below contained in the u . s .. maximum great American cities have extra murders according to twelve months than the entire united states of america of Canada, no longer to point Toronto.

Honolulu is nice, but I liked the atmosphere and energy of Waikiki, which is right next to it, much better.

Looks like any other city. It's very expensive and not many good paying jobs.

Personaly, I would prefer to live and work on Kauai. Oahu is too busy, closest to a large mainland city. Her's a link to business info. http://www.hawaii.gov/portal/

Pleasant. Layback. Smaller in scale.
Then again, I'm a native New Yorker.
