When I attempt to play part 1 of a simple video that I downloaded (legally), WMP pops up and nothing is happening though.

use winrar which tells you if you need more then one file to get the whole thing its either that or the .rar file that you have is too small to show a picture or a part of a movie.

A multi-part rar file is usually parts of a whole. You have to extract them all to get the complete file before it will play. If all the archives are in the same directory, right-clicking the first rar and clicking Extract should automatically extract the other rars as well.

you have to extract the movie, right click and u'll c it..but sometimes if the files are .001,.002,.003...ending , then u have to extract them altogether
