yes you can.
Use a search engine like GOOGLE, and search for a file recovery program. I use File Scavenger 3.0.
This will scan your drives for all deleted files.
You know its a document so that makes it easier.
Good luck, all though you wont need it.
If you have any problems just email me and i will walk you through the process.

The program may have put the file in the recycle bin. You checked there right?

Here are three free programs that promise to recover deleted files.
PC Inspector (http://www.pcinspector.de/file_recovery/UK/welcome.htm)
Restoration (http://aumha.org/a/recover.php)
Snapfiles (http://www.snapfiles.com/get/restoration.html)
If you used a shredder to overwrite a document, forget it.
