If he says he's gay, it means he's decided that he prefers men to women. Strictly speaking, a "gay" man will not be able to perform with a woman, so technically this guy is probably bisexual. But if he says he prefers men, there isn't much point in arguing with him.

Nobody can come out of the closet because the are technically not in one. He either want to be with men or not. the relationship with the woman may be only to make other people happy. Let him be gay if he wants to. As long as the are not sleeping with you and another man at the same time, there is nothing to worry about.

I don't know this guy, but I have a friend whose husband started to cross dress and she was fine with that. They have an open marriage, but hten sex with other men followed in front of her. He's a body builder by the way. You would never guess he was into the kink talking to him. Now she's starting to realize the marriage has all been this front so he doesn't have to come out. Only problem is is that she now wants to have a normal relationship with somebody.
Ppl can be deivious and deceitful. It's possible this guy is either bi or was just flat out lying about being gay.

Even though the current lover is a male, the next one very likely could be female. My guess is "bi".
