i never had a lisp until i got braces about a year ago. wil this go away? and is this normal

It's not really a lisp that I have. Certain letters are difficult, such as C, F, G, S, V, X, and Z. The S sound is the most difficult. I think an actual lisp has more to do with the tongue. I've had braces for almost 17 months and it hasn't improved. Braces do affect your speech and it is very normal. As an adult, I don't mind this minor speech problem; I like my straight teeth more! (My braces come off October 30th!)

It may be that your mouth and toungue are having trouble adjusting to the braces. If it has lasted a full year maybe you should see a speech therapist. Lisps can be the product of needing extra help with the vowel consonant sounds.

aww. i had a lisp when i was little. i had to go to speech therapy to get rid of it. maybe you could go. or maybe your braces will prevent your lisp from going away.

it happens when you get braces but you will have to try and talk different ways and slower of faster and see if you can get rid of it, or just be happy with the teath god gave you , bless you
