I mean "screwed" as a vague wide open term. It could be crappy decisions, injuries at bad times, bad promoters, jail, any reason a career couldn't continue, or anything else along those lines. You get the idea.

How about Ali getting stripped of the belt for not joining the army. He was undefeated then. Ali refused induction into the Army in 1967 and went into forced exile losing three and a half of his best years as a fighter. When he returned his legs were not what they once were. Ali, fighting more flat-footed than before, revealed some never before tested traits such as heart, determination, and the ability to take a heavy punch.
He was still good when he came back but was never the same. We didn't really see him in his prime. He could have been a lot better.
He lost millions of dollars in 3 1/2 years in exile plus he was never the same. Can't think of any other heavyweight who got screwed more.

Many fighters especially the late great Joe Louis had bad money problems particularly with shady promoters and managers etc and had problems with back taxes from the IRS which is truly sad. As far as one bad boxing decision goes, I feel strongly that Larry Holmes was screwed in his rematch with Michael Spinks.

I would say Larry Holmes. He was a great fighter but i don't think he ever got the credit that he deserved. He fought in Ali's shadow for the most part, but he was one of the best heavyweight champs in history with 20 title defenses and he fought all the top contenders of his era. And he got screwed big time against Michael Spinks.

All these people saying Tyson are living in the past.

The answer to that question is Muhammad Ali.
He made a principled stand against a conflict that was none of his, or any American's business, and the government stole three years of his career to punish him.

1edge3 writing below is the kind of apologist that embarrases himself whenever he opens his mouth.
Children have their minds made up for them. Tyson is a grown man. Whatever happened to him, he did to himself.

Ali was compelled by our government to join a meaningless conflict, and had the b***s to say 'no'.

Ali made a choice not to go. Whatever happened ot him was his own choosing.

Iron Mike had choices made for him. If he had stayed wiht his first manager he'd have turned out alright. As it stands, I still have Tyson as the most dangerous fighter ever. A young Mike would devastate a young Ali.

Ali, he was stripped of his title by a racist power structure without being given due process because he refused the military draft.
