I have found that it mostly depends on your refrigerator. With my last refrigerator, I found that I had to make sure to cook any meat I purchased within 2 days max. Milk would always sour by the day after the date. Vegetables didn't last more than a week at the most.
Then, I moved to a different apartment. I continued to shop at the same grocery store, but found that meat would last up to a week without cooking before it went bad, Milk 4 days past the date, and vegetables really lasted.
The only thing that really changed was the refrigerator. The first one had old seals that were cracked. When I moved to the new place, the refrigerator was a few months old.
Hope this helps. Sorry it was so wordy.

My personal experience is:
I put it in the freezer when I was on WIC
cause they would give you 4 gallons
of milk at a time. Thaw it out 2 days
before you use it. or you can buy a pint and
then you would not have so much. I could go on
and on about how to save milk and mke smaller
quantity. Usually 7days when not opened and
about 3 to 7 after you open it

I used to throw it out by the day after the expiration date. But I read that if you put just a pinch of salt in it when you buy it, it extends it to about a week after. I've been doing that for several months now and it works! And the salt is not noticable in taste.

Not for 2 long. I usually keep milk for a couple of days after the expiration date, to use for pancake batter, hushpuppies, cakes... remember only a few days, don't let it curdle on you, then its no good. I am a penny pincher.

I think it really depends on the refrigeration. My refrigerator keeps it so cold that milk is still good 12-14 days past the expiration date.

I usually go about a week but it depends if it smells bad but don't be fooled by the sour milk smell for the dried milk around the opening.

If properly refrigerated, milk is good up to 7 days past the date.

As long as you want. The stores can't sell it after the sell date.
