In this life, such injuries or tortures have real consequences, such as a disability or burn you would have to carry w/ you through your life. Or losing your home, or all of your money, or your loved ones.

But if you are dead, what does it matter, since you have no responsibilities to anyone! Secondly, doesn't it stand to reason that just like your body adjusts to itchy clothes or some constant irritation, after a few weeks or months of burning in hell or being beaten, you would get used to it & be bored or not scared? What is there to be scared of, dying?? obviously not.

Hell is the Second Death. Man is required to die once and then if he dies in his sins, he goes to the underworld where he is subjected to torture. Why this happens I'm not sure. Unless you were a truly evil person, why would a "loving God" make you endure this? Ministers have said that the temperature of Hell is seven times hotter than any known temperature on Earth. How could they possibly know this? There's an escape out of Hell according to the forgotten books of the Bible. If someone approaches God and asks Him to let you out of torment, He is obligated to release you. You probably would get used to the burning after a while and you would hate God so much for sending you there, that you would prefer to suffer instead of being with a God who didn't want you there in the first place !

The thing about Hell is that even though you are dead, it DOES matter. That is why you don't want to go there. I think that your spirit remembers how life felt, and how pain and terror felt and that is why you wont ever get used to the pain and torture. If Hell was a good place to go, or it didn't matter, then why would so many people care? Why would Jesus have died on the cross to save us all? Why would there be a place for the bad people to go and a place where al of the good people to go? Hell is a consiquence of living a life not knowing God or His goodness and how we should treat one another.

Why do you question what God has said?

Do you actually think that you know better or that you are smarter than Him?

Hell is described as a place of continuous, everlasting torment. The worm does not cease, and the fire is not quenched. You can reason with your mind and speculate all you like, but you only get one chance to avoid going there to see for yourself. Why would anyone want to go there? You have to be a complete idiot to want to go to hell. And if you ever do, that's it. There is no getting back out. Only by the decision of your free will to accept Jesus Christ the Son of God can keep you from going there. Don't throw yourself away. Don't throw your life away. Don't be stupid, it isn't very becoming.

Well IF it's true we all will be brought back from the dead and be alive again - then judged - then either heaven or hell - however I don't get with any of religion - I'm told that God is love yet then I'm told that if I don't believe and worship him I'm going to hell - that to me does not sound like love to me - I've seen programs that talk about the book of Revelation where it is foretold of wars and suffering on a huge scale yet God is going to do nothing to stop this... Love? Give me a break! I think Religion is nothing more than crowd control - giving people ethics to live to - look at the breakdown of human relationships the more religion disappears. Don't confuse nutters who use Gods name to kill either.

Weeping and nashing of teeth, do you think in hell those that have been there for a while will never have a new comer set next to them? Maybe the nashing and weeping is all the new people that are being placed in among those that are used to it and bored by then. I don't believe in hell, but I can use my imagination. Good Question.

What makes you think that you are dead in hell? Revelation 20:11-15 and Revelation 21:8, the Bible also says the smoke of their torment will go up forever and ever, there is weeping and gnashing of teeth, no hope of things getting any better......don't sound like fun to me, or nothing that I would get use to,

I understand your viewpoint of hell but it's not correct.

Hell is not just the burning. That is only the first part of it.
Hell is complete darkness, complete isolation from all other souls with no "floor". You are tormented by a 'worm', the bible says, "the worm never dies". The part most humans can't get their brain around is that it is forever. The brain can't truly appreciate what forever really means.

John 5:29 says we will all rise and be judged, so we will not be "dead". Given the choice of eternal life, I would choose a place where there is love, compassion, and freedom from pain and worry over eternal torture. It seems like an easy choice to me.

To enter hell means to enter into complete separation from God.

What that means is that NOTHING good can ever happen to you again. God is the source of goodness and love. Without that there's nothing left, no hope, no nothing.

Hell was created for the devil and his angels, but those who refuse to accept Jesus Christ' sacrifice for them for the remission of sins will end up separated from God. The soul continues to live after the flesh dies. Your five senses are still intact, therefore, torture for all eternity will be relentless, with no relief.

I feel the same way...as I tell my coworkers "Hell doesn't scare me, since I live in Alabama!"

Hell has been described as the absence of God's love. That's why it's so painful and horrible. Personally, I'd rather be in hell than heaven. I've seen some of the people that are supposedly going to heaven, and I'm not sure I'd want to spend eternity with them!
