Only if the other dog is male...

First of all DON'T LISTEN TO MO. Pulling them apart can SEVERELY injure both dogs. Wait until they seperate naturally. It can take quite a while.

Second of all, either talk to your vet about a 'morning after' pill, or prepare to be a grandparent. They don't necessarily get pregnant the first time they mate, but it is fairly common.

Third of all, if your dog turns out to not be pregnant, get her fixed or make sure you keep her away from males when she's in heat.

The locking or "tieing" doesn't have anything to do with the female conceiving, just indicates that the male ejaculated. DO NOT ever try to separate dogs that are thus joined. Check with your vet for the necessary drugs to hopefully prevent unwanted puppies (the world has enough of them)

No, this has nothing to do with impregnating the female. The male dogs organ swells at time of ejaculation, that is why you should try to get them apart. It can severely injure both of the dogs.

not necessarily! I would advise that you do a little research before you breed your dog. I am being quite serious and I am not trying to be mean. There is ALOT that should go into properly breeding dogs....they should meet breed 'standard' at minimum and then parents should be tested against hip/elbow displaysia, heart conditions and also an eye exam to ensure that both parents are free from any hereditary issues. Please please please research proper breeding procedure and ethics before letting two dogs 'hook up'. http://www.akc.org/breeders/resp_breeding/index.cfm

if both are able and neighter have a health issue that will prevent it , yes they usually are. there is a morning after pill for dogs. unless you want the litter. if you do, a couple more "ties" are a good idea to make sure!

i don't think it's in the bag. because i had a one year old poodle get stuck with my chihuahua and she did not get pregnet so i think the male needs to be a certain age for the release of sperm.
