God believers aren't necessarily brainwashed or delusional.
OK? That's too broad a brush, you're using an elephant gun to kill a mosquito here.
God believers are AFRAID. They are deathly afraid of dying and many of them are afraid their kids won't grow up right. They go to church as a liferaft.

I"m an atheist, too, but why can't we accept each other's right to believe differently without having to put the other down? It drives me nuts to see the believers bash the atheists and vice versa. It's not like I'm going to lose any sleep over the fact that some people still believe in God. So what if I think you are delusional and brainwashed? The important thing is, are you happy? If so, it doesn't matter if you choose to believe that there is no God, or that there is a Flying Spaghetti Monster that will rain you with Holy Macaroni if you believe.
So, hope you all don't mind my two cents. Have a great Friday night!

Your question is loaded, as in "Why do so many Atheists..."
This is an unproven premise.
I noticed one responder replied with "squirm, liberals, squirm."
This is also a statement of bias, since it assumes that all athiests are liberals.
Nonsense.
You need to take a survey (or read one) which proves or disproves your assertion that many Atheists do in fact think religious people are "brainwashed or delusional". Then rephrase your question in the context of the survey results.
The "squirm" responder needs to become Fair and Balanced. Otherwise, he'll run into a conservative Atheest someday and be totally perplexed.
All of the other responders who automatically assume negative things about Atheists need to do a little research and/or meet and talk to Atheists - because it's clear that these responders don't have the faintest idea what they're talking about.

I understand where your coming from. I am a Christian and I always try to find an answer for the questions posed by anyone.
Atheists may say that we're delusional and brainwashed but they don't understand the things of God. If they would reach back behind their pride and humble themselves they would have an encounter with the Almighty. Unfortunately, many are to proud to submit to someone higher then then they are.

I even have some thought of why an atheist might think of i'm brainwashed, yet not one of the three factors you have annunciated has that lots to do with it. final analysis is, whether my mom and dad did no longer tell me approximately God, i might have wide-unfold approximately Him (and did be attentive to approximately Him) from what i will see in creation. None of this might probable are turning out to be right here by making use of itself (extraordinarily life). It basically isn't achieveable. so some distance as atheists being instructed they are going to Hell, your factor is largely moot. it is like asserting that because of the fact the grass is green in the present day, there ought to have been little or no smog outdoors the day beforehand of this. this is a non-sequitur. so some distance as comments from believers being from Scripture, so what? That proves no longer something different than that people who quoted scripture quoted scripture. What does that ought to do with something, no longer to show with being brainwashed?? It does not have any connection.

Maybe they are making these decisions without any real knowledge of who we really are. I am neither brainwashed nor delusional but have made a well thought out and thoroughly researched decision. I continue to seek knowledge of God on a daily basis and do not resort to name calling but instead would suggest that we hold an intelligent conversation not to try to prove each other wrong or right but to maybe understand each other better.

As a former atheist, then agnostic, now Christian believer... although I couldn't tell you which sect ... I don't belong to any, nor do I go to church. I think that an atheist can't understand why someone would believe something exists that they can not scientifically prove. By assuming one who believes is mentally ill -- it makes sense. However, religion isn't entirely about facts and there are historical documents that prove Jesus existed. For me that helped me see that there is some truth to all this. My husband is extremely agnostic and looks to Christianity as a historical account of the world during that era. About your second question --- the potentiality that anything surrounding and regarding our existence is fictional is absolutely possible. Unlikely, but yeah I mean this whole thing could be a dream... (talk about Matrix). It is possible that believers are fooling themselves... anything is possible. That is why it's called, "Faith."

Everybody needs something to believe in. Most people choose, or are born into their form of God (religion) or, in some places, several Gods. Without God(s) their lives would be pointless. I don't think anybody could truly believe in nothing. That would be a very tortured life to live. Aliens and the American Indian "Brown Planet" are much better than nothing at all.

God is the end result of a failed search for truth by a very shallow mind, provided that any search was made at all instead of swallowing the pile of delusional bilge that was spoon fed to you as a child

As a Christian, I don't push my faith on anyone, but, I do witness for Jesus, because I feel that people should have the chance to know Him and know about Him.
If we never hear about things, we never learn, so it never hurts to listen to anyone. I have studied many religions and being a Christian is what I chose for myself. It is what I chose to believe.
As Christians we are not trying to bully you or make you do anything you don't want to do, we just give you the information and hope that you turn to Jesus. If Athiests think we are brainwashed, then they themselves keep their minds closed to what other religions believe.
If Atheists choose not to believe in God, that is their choice, but as for me, I choose to tell everyone I know, about Jesus, and let them decide for themselves.
