It sickens me that the already low standard of 8 weeks has now been lowered to 6 to 8 weeks. The 8 week standard is way too young to begin with. Dogs (puppies) do best if they stay with their mom and litter until 12 weeks.
6 weeks is absolutely, completely, definitely, too young to be away from mommy. They will be lonely no matter when you separate them. But they will do much better in their new homes if you keep them until they are 12 weeks or at least 11. 6 weeks is too young physically and 8 weeks is too young behaviorally.

Its OK to separate them at 8 weeks, they will still be lonely. I use to breed German Shepard's, and never separated them until they were adopted. I would leave the mother be away from them after they were weaned. But the pups all stayed together.

don't separate them until they go to new home there is no need until then they will be fretful for a while when they leave, but they forget there siblings pretty quick

six to eight weeks is good or when you find a new home for the one pup, i like to leave them together till they get adopted.
