When you are in a relationship you are confident and you feel lovable. People believe the way you feel about yourself. Call it vibe or energy-something like that.
It's a theory.

I'm pretty sure it has something to do with pheromones. The opposite sex can "smell" desperation; nobody wants that. What we want is the best there is, and we know it's the best because somebody else has already laid claim to it. It's all that evolutionary stuff, survival of the fittest, you know.
I think there's a bunch of stuff going on with smells and body language that you're not even consciously aware of, but which are telling you who's worth fighting for. And also telling everyone else when you're spoken for.

There seems to be an unwritten law that those who are not easily available are more attractive. Maybe it is the challenge, or the need to try to change someone, to outdo someone else. Whatever it is, it does at least seem to be a real phenomenon. Books have been written on the topic, movies have been produced, and lives have been changed forever because of it.

it boggles the mind, doesn't it? i am 54/male. i haven't had meaningful relationship for 12 years. suddenly, 5 weeks ago, a woman i had chatted with me on net agreed to meet me. an ex g/f from long ago called and wanted to get back together. a woman answered a singles ad and wanted to meet. this all happened in one day. i decided i would pick the chat friend. i have since had three other offers for relationships. i do not cheat. it has been wild.

Its because they see you're with someone, so you're deemed "safe", as in someone tried you out, you work, and now they feel its safe to move in. When single, they stay away because they think no one is dating you for a reason. F'ing pisses me off sometimes ya know? Its like, you see they're with someone, so back the f*uck off.

it's not that there's more people hitting on you and giving you looks it's that your just starting to notice it more because you know you're happy and you've got what you want and so you have nothing else to dream about or want so you notice things like people flirting with you because you know you can't flirt back so temptation is just playing with you
