We had a cat that we got from the shelter. They didn't know if she was fixed or not. Within a couple weeks she went into heat. She meowed all the time and rubbed or but onto everything. Not to mention the dozen male cats on the front lawn. You will definitely know when a cat is in heat. The cat will drive you crazy.

Cats generally go into Heat on or near the Spring and Fall months and the first signs are usually, they become extremely affectionate, rubbing all over, then they start rolling, calling, and if you're not careful they will attract much attention from unaltered male cats. There will be no doubt in your mind.The cat will run ahead of you and stop with her butt in the air, she will howl and scream, she will raise her butt and move her tail to the side when ever you pet her.She will also be very interested in other cats in the neighborhood and try to go visit them anytime you open a door or window.

Cats who are in heat are extremely loving. They rub their face with their paws, they roll around on the carpet and make lots of weird noises.

Females will meow constantly, especially at night when you are trying to sleep. They act goofy, are extra affectionate, and hike their butts way in the air when you pet them. Spaying will eliminate this. Male cats will howl and go on forever, especially at night.

They tend to roll in the floor and will stick their rear end up in the air and carry on like crazy. They will continue to do this until they get bred or until you go crazy.

for a female they will rub against you all the time and meow all day and night. and when you go to pet them they will stick there butt up in the air.

They always want to show you their bum. Also nonstop meowing at nothing, following you everywhere, & general silly behaviour.
