Well, i just bought a crossman 66 powermaster, and its the black and silver one (plastic and steel). I dont like the fact that its so light, which makes for a less accurate shot, but i only really need a good pellet gun so i can practice at home on targets 10 yards away. I joined the ROTC rifle team so were going to be going to competitions and stuff starting in a few weeks, i need to get ready. I looked at all the air rifles at wal mart and got this one. i also just checked online at academy and stuff. I just basically need a REALLY accurate pellet gun minimum 550 fps, kind of heavy, not a multi pump cuz i hate pumping like 8 times, and something under $60. a CO2 rifle would be like my dream practice rifle. but i know theyr'e minimum $100. Can anyone help me locate a good single pump 550fps minimum, not too light, really accurate air rifle under $60, thats sold at a store in houston. and if the one i already have is a good choice then just say that.

Everything you ever wanted to know about air guns...

CO2 gets very expensive, in the long run a spring piston air rifle actually costs less to shoot...Take a look at the Beeman Sportsman S500, it meets all of your criteria, cost $55, velocity 550FPS, Weight 5.4lbs, spring piston, good accuracy..It's on sale at air gun warehouse!

There is a Beeman 5 Star dealer in Houston, phone 713-781-1960 , A 5 Star dealer means they should handle the full line of Beeman air guns plus service them. What I would do is ask them what their price is for the S500 model, if their price is less you're in luck, if it's more, explain your situation(ROTC) and tell them you found the rifle for $55 at air gun warehouse and ask them if they will price match....Good Luck!

Smart filters are giving me hell tonight...google "air rifles" or check out sites like Cabela's. Break-barrel single shot air rifles abound, from cheapie Chinese to thousand dollar Walthers.
