im irish my wife american we have a 19 month old girl.our daughter was born in ireland where my wife lived with me at the time.she being an only child missed her parents so we moved back to her home country the usa.so i go through the hoops get my green card and we move .my daughter comes with us using her irish passport .so while back here in the us we apply for our daughters citizenship which under american law she is entitled to.HOWEVER 6 months later she still has not got it cause the crappy government keeps refusing it why why why any child born to an american parent is an automatic american just cause she has a irish passport it should not matter she is allowed to have duel citizenship.in my opinion the goverment in the usa will keep you waiting forever for something if they can get a cent more from you we have spent over 3000 between my green card and now for my daughters stuff a report of birth abroad form costs 160 why do americans treat even your own like crap.

Isn't that something? You try to do things by the law and have to go through many hoops to get there. But if you're illegal, things are handed to you on a platter. Go figure.
I respect you for what you are doing.

you got it !
wow so you and she got married and you decided to apply for a green card! by you marring here you know you would get a green card but what you didn't bank on was the government giving you a hard time with the daughter!
they are very very hard on marrying for a green card and they know everyone who does this and they socks it too them! your green card was giving .... but your daughter must go is not special and i bet you or she did not know this but here daughter is not an American citizen and the procedure is the same as anyone else ! she gets not special treatment based on where her mother was born and if you and she thought so-NO! She is not a citizen based on her mother citizenship!
now if both of you all were citizens the child would have had no problem but this is not the case and the outcome is what it is!
and you ain't hitting me in the head with it alright
now you know you married her sole for a green card and that is why you and her reentered the united states or she bought you here with her! Asked me how i know! but the baby you and she thought would make everything easier for the process but no you see the government immigration have seen many of these cases and they will not grant the child's green card if they ever do and further more your wife is grown so what she misses her mother she should have just visited here and went back to your home and stayed and this would have pr oven your didn't only marry for green card i am not convinced of what you say at all!
Asked me how i know!
JOANNA K your husband cannot just marry you and apply for green card and receive a green card you see they put them on the bottom of the list i wish y'all understand this and i will contact your husband if you dint mind and tell him he MIGHT RECEIVE a green card after 7 years married to you! but it is very time consuming and costly now the governments hopes for you to divorce before green card is issue ed oh he will get a temporary one but a full green card, after 7 years no sooner or longer!!

ocairde- You must hire an attorney to get your daughter the citizenship. It is just matter of providing all the correct information and at times the US immigration services which go hard by its rules - that are evolving.
Hold on to you, she will be a citizen.
What do you expect? There are 12 mil illegal immigrants and government is working on providing residency to all those.

Dont you think you been legally migrated and so your daughter wont become citizens. It is all the Hope! You got to believe it to happen.

It's not a matter of your child being an Americans daughter or not. Fact is that she wasn't born in the USA. Things take time if they're going to be done properly.

How old was your wife when your daughter was born they go by how long she lived in the U.S. before going overseas. After the age of 14. that's why. and she is married to you and you are not a U.S citizen. That is why your daughter is not a U,S citizen automatically why don't you become a U.S citizen and she will become one to at the same time.

Why not just move back to Ireland? Obviously you and your wife want to stay here, just like nearly all the world's poor, and there will be hoops to jump though. Get over it, and get a lawyer to help you through the hoops.

That is so unfair.
If we didn't have ppl jumping our borders, it wouldn't be this hard.

The government likes to play the waiting game, hoping ppl will give up.
So keep calling every week or every two weeks, to check up on the progress, keep resubmitting or ask them to resubmit the paper work, it should go though.

Blame the US government. Blame foreign countries' corrupt governments (coughMexicocough). Blame big business owners who hire illegals, and illegals who suck up benefits that only AMERICANS and LEGAL immigrants have the right to. Don't forget to blame those pro-MEXICAN illegal politicians who only cater to their kind. And they call ME racist.
