Sorry, I know you said ladies only, but I understand boys better than you (having been one and all).

He was not trying to insult you. He genuinely believed this was a good pickup strategy. He will continue to think that until someone sets him straight. What you need to do, in order to spare others from this type of harrassment, is:

1) Never, ever, under any circumstances, actually go out with someone after they say something like that. Not even if he's really, really hot. It will just re-enforce the behavior.

2) Don't hit him, or get mad. For some reason, these will both be interpreted as "flirting". The ideal way to handle this is to start laughing. Make it clear you are laughing AT him because he's a dork, not WITH him because he said something funny.
