They all mentioned the flood.. (in great length ),is this because the ark and it's passengers and voyage are impossible to defend? If not could someone explain it?

I don't believe in the Noah's Ark story...logically it does not make any sense; one guy building an ark to hold one m/f of every species known. Yeah, right? And then survive...for how long?
Nope...just another myth fostered upon a fearful world. I do believe there was a flood tho...that is a possibility. Sorry if ya'all are offended but that is what I think.

God was watching over his people on the earth he had made. But He was not pleased with what he saw; violence and corruption plagued the earth, all the people had hearts full of evil. Seeing what his earth had become made God very upset.

Among the evil God found one good man however, named Noah, a righteous man who was faithful to him. God decided he would rid the earth of the evil by sending a great flood, wiping mankind and the animals from it.

God told Noah of his plans to flood the earth, and told him to build an ark. The ark would be big enough to save the animals, his family and store food and supplies.

Noah did as he was told, and on the day he and his family finished building the ark it started to pour down with rain. It rained hard for 40 days and 40 nights until the entire earth was flooded, even the highest mountains were covered to a depth of more than 20 feet.

After about 220 days the Ark came to rest on the mountains of Ararat as the waters went down and the mountaintops were visible again. Noah sent out a dove but it soon returned as it could not find anywhere to land. Seven days later Noah sent the dove out again, and this time it returned, with an olive branch in its beak. Noah knew that the waters had now subsided. Seven days later Noah sent the dove out once more, and this time it did not return. Noah knew that it must have found land and a good home. So he, his family, and all the other animals left the Ark.

God then made a promise never to destroy the earth and its life in such a manner again. To help people remember his promise God put a rainbow in the clouds and said “Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth”

I don't get it ? What's not to defend,If you take the cubits and translate them to royal inches which would be 24" a cubit(a profane or common cubit is 18")The royal cubit was used in the Ark,the Great Pyramid of Giza,The Temple of Solomon and the Ark of the Covenent(you know kiddies Indiana Jones etc.)
Once you build that ship, and it's shaped like a barge, that's one hell of a ship. Now the (apocryphal)book of Jasher(mentioned in Joshua and I Samuel)states that the animals drove their just weaned babes to Noah and left them there.Hey,you could get a lot of baby animals on that ship.On top of that at the time the mountains weren't so tall, that happens during the flood when the deep breaks up allowing all the underground water to gush forth, then the earth goes thru great upheavels and great Mtn. ranges are born. That's why you can find sea shells on Mt. Ararat ( I found some as a kid in my hills above Whittier,Ca. and when they were digging up for a new Jr.High in my Chino Hills Ca. neighborhood they found a whale fossils and one is encased in the library(Townsend Jr. High for refernce)On top of everything else,Holmes,it 's a very good possibility that there was a dense water sky (fimament) that even was reflective(it says at the time it never rained,'but a mist came up from the ground to water'(sounds like Florida). Some scientists say that's how the So. Americans could etch those huge animal drawings on the plains so perfectly, just by looking up(I know ,whacky theory but quite plausible)When God had that firmament come down it was one Hell of a storm, plus the waters from the deep covering the earth?...No problem. When it receded, alot went back underground, the rest into the seas and lakes(Great Salt Lake,Black Sea for a couple of examples),the skies cleared for the first time and we started the cycle of evaporation and rain .The water covering also kept the suns rays out thereby prolonging the aging process, after that was taken away, the ages of man slowly started to decline until we now average 75 yrs old.Any more questions Jr.?
(I'm being a wise guy)

I once answered an Ark question and I'll answer it again. God is a genius. God controls the rules of the universe and the laws of physics, therefore God, who gave specific instructions on how the build the ark, maybe have let Noah in on a little sceret Noak nevery fully undestood.

Since your name is Plan 9, let me tell it you in terms you can fathom.

The ark is Transcendentally Inverse. It's bigger on the inside than it is on the oustide. Just like Dr. Who's Police Box.

Get the picture.

God is capable of such a feat and could teach man how to do it.

Don't forget, Jesus walked on water and said any of us could do the same thing.

As for the animals God could command them or induce them to come two by two.

Also, as flood waters rise, animals run the other way and if Noah's area was one of the last dry spots, all living animals would eventually arrive there.

Except for Unicorn and Dinosaurs who didn't head the warnings and thats why find fossils and have oil wells all over the place.

What do you want to know? If there was and Ark with animals in it? Noah preached to unbelievers for 100 years while he built the Ark according to God measurements. He put 7 each of every clean animal, and 2 each of every unclean animal. People thought that he was crazy because it had never rained before. some believed but backed out at the last minute. Only him and his family and those animals where saved. Just like the unbelievers are already condemned. This is a faith situation.

I did not see your question. But what about the ark. It had to be strong enough to hold all the animals and people. But where did Noah get the idea to build it. Supposedly from God. the ark is said tohave been found, or they think it is the ark, but can't get to it. Years ago they showed a program about it, found it , couldn't get to it, then they left it alone. since then they found it again, and it has since come apart from the las t time they saw it. But they still can't get to it. It is in some country that doesn't want us there or something like that.

You will have to let me know what you asked about it. I am not a really religious person, but I think I believe in something like this. Some times thngs are too hard to explain, so it has to be real.

Hope you have a nice night.

Anyone familiar with sefer Be'rashit (Genesis to non Jews) in Hebrew and not a translation of it can see that this is clearly a Solomonic poem expanding and Judaicising earlier Mesopotamian myths of the deluge. c.f. the Epic of Gilgamesh (the story of Ut-Napishtim). So much is lost in translation from ancient texts such as the Torah into modern languages, especially a language as blunt and lacking in subtlty as modern English. Over the centuries the Rabbis have explored Talmudic tractates concerning the Ark and their findings are wonderful. The Heb. word for "ark" used in the Noah Narrative is only used in one other Narrative and that is in ref. to the basket Moses was placed in by his mother. For this reason Rashi concludes that it is a symbol of human action, inspired by the divine will, to save life in order that a covenant might be enacted between YHWH and His creation. We must move past the infantile desire to make history out of story, the Hebrew Bible is far too important to be brutalised by surface readings of a text clearly meant for deeper reading.

The story of Noak's Ark is just that, a story. No basis in fact, no evidence ever found to support it, and scientifically and logically impossible. Had a good laugh at some of the comments you received.....the Grand Canyon is proof....lol......a piece of wood was found on the mountain is proof....hard to believe in this day and age that people are still so gullible and naive......oh well I guess that is why telemarketing still works, tele-evangelicals get millions, and used car salesman prosper...

I sorry I not sure if I saw your question.

The ark of Noah, was made of gopher wood (most likly ceder)
Models have been made by the discription of the bible.
It was a very stable ship, one of the best desins for a stable ship.
If you wanted to go some place its a very bad design but if you just wanted to tow the ship out into the ocean, it has a great tendency to stay there!

Your question was are there still people who believe in Noah's Ark. Dear, the story of Noah's Ark is in the bible. There are millions and millions of people who believe the bible is the word of God.

That you think it's dangerous to believe in God's word reflects on you...not on those who believe.
