"CHICAGO An immigration activist who's seeking refuge in a church to avoid deportation to Mexico says her seven-year-old son is heading to the National Latino Congress in Los Angeles today to share their experiences.

Elvira Arellano (el-VEER'-ah ah-ray-AH'-noh) is here illegally, but her son Saul is an American citizen. Both have lived at Chicago's Aldalberto United Methodist Church since mid-August.

Last month, the church's Reverend Walter Coleman filed a lawsuit on Saul's behalf that argues the government shouldn't deport Arellano because that would deprive her son of his rights as a citizen.

So far, authorities haven't tried to arrest Arellano.

Earlier this week, a judge refused to issue a temporary restraining order to keep officials from deporting her. The family has filed a motion to reconsider."

So who is she shipping her son out with, I wonder?

What do you think about this?

Hey, Illegal Mexican, I am reading the news and am passing on things I think others might find interesting. I appreciate it when they do the same.

However, I am not "making" news, just letting people know what is already there, and hoping they'll do the same.

Something has too be done soon. This is not good for the child. I would leave if it were me rather than cause the damage to my own child-that this has got to be creating. What kind of life is this for the child. I can not believe any parent could do this.
And if the child is not staying with her--that is bad too. The sins of the parents pass down to the child. Sad
Nice information-very interesting-Thank-you for this and any update you might have.

This is certainly not a good strategy for the government to reduce criminal activities of illegal immigrants. They are allowing more Elvira Arellanos to follow her tactics of flagrantly defying the law and underscoring how weak the government in exercising its authority. Not only by their illegal presence is costing the federal government significantly but also arresting, prosecuting, sentencing illegal aliens' crime. There should really be no stopping for ICE to do their job when they can clearly identify the offending alien and certain of her whereabouts. They shld deport her en pronto and save taxpayers' money.

I think she is using this child a human shield. Her lawsuits are going no where. I often wondered why the kid isn't school all we hear about is how medically unsound he is yet can travel around the country without problems. Why don't they ever indicate who the father is ? They say he has only one parent but she was busy having sex on Sat singing a hym on Sunday had a baby on Monday now held accountable for her actions it's about the child no father indicated why it might just put new twist to it.

As a Chicagoan, the story IS TRUE. They should drag her butt out and deport. Mayor Daley caters to Latinos.

Don't care who the hell that woman and her son is. She's here illegally, and she's definitely bringing her son with her back to Mexico.

She is using her own son for protection, hoping they won't deport her because of him, I hope they drag her a*s out of that church and send her packing. she is a disgrace as a mother.
