I went to my dentist for my cleaning and had 2 fillings done. I woke up the next morning and my tonsils were inflammed with pus. Could the dentist visit have something to do with this? There are signs posted all over the office claiming that their instruments are sterilized.

Honestly I don't know about the dentist thing. But some years back when I had tonsillitis the symptoms were the same, but drs told me tonsillitis is passed the strep stage hence the pus, when you have strep only you don't have pus yet. That is what I was told. Think back before it got this bad, were u having trouble swallowing, was your mouth dry, more saliva than usual, etc? Strep will go away on its own sometimes but tonsillitis must be treated that ish is painful. Feel better.

It sounds like what i had when i was 17. I had a abscess on each tonsil it was a night mare because the Dr said it would go away i ended up in the hospital where a diffrent Dr there said they need to come out asap otherwise my throat would close up when i was sleeping and that would be it...... You should go see your Dr just in case. chances are your Dr will put you on antibiotics to see if that helps if not you will have to go to a specialist

It doesn't seem likely considering the time frame that your dentist would be the cause.Think back to how you felt right before you went in and call you doctor a.s.a.p.

I hope you feel better!

go to your regular doctor and ask him if the dental work could have caused it, if so your doctor can help you fill out papers to sue the dentist if you wish. sometimes its just the ammount of time you are breathing through your mouth that causes the sore throat but the puss bit doesnt sound good.

You shouldn't even be able to see your tonsils...so if you really know you are looking at your tonsils you should go to the doctor...
