The price they first tell you is the price without taxes or any of the other extra charges that could be involved and there could be all kinds of extra charges, from extended warranties they will want to sell you to rust proofing to financing charges.
Also, remember that dealers have much more room to negotiate that they want you to know. The bottom line that they tell you and that you probably pay in the end is never really the bottom line.
These sites should help.

yep it should be printed on the window of the car price, tax, dealership fees etc... also the gas mileage and standard or option features should be on it.. there shouldn't be any extra fees unless you want it delivered.. take a good look around before you buy anything.. and when you find something have a mechanic check it out.. and pay in CASH most dealer ships that i know will cut a deal and give you a lower price if you pay in cash up front

The quoted prices are ALWAYS exclusive of tax, title, and license. You have to read the contract CAREFULLY! Some dealers like to pile on the junk fees. One dealer recently had the balls to tack on a $395.00 "documentation fee." I tore up the contract and walked out.

Price without the taxes and everything. Be careful, and make sure you ask about all the charges before you sign anything.

They tell you what you want to hear...taxes, license & extra fees are extra and they don't have to tell you what they are.

They will if you insist. Car salesmen, (yuk), tend to only tell you what the MONTHLY cost will be.
