In free-thinking sense, I would agree since we are subjected to our own morals and society's restrictions on our way of life. We create our own self - considering "we" means "human beings" - and tonnes of stuff on land are created by our own hands. INCLUDING the holy books because, in essence books are made by man.
PS (All religion got different perception. In cultural studies, religions are myth (not "legend or history") and beliefs (not "believe"). Its faith (not "truth"), although some claim to be existence for over two thousand years (ie Christianity), and five thousand years (ie Hinduism), hence they could say whatever they like, who remembers what happened then?? BUT it is interesting to note that some religions are also very biased and very selfish, condemning other religions and pronounce theirs superior, claiming theirs are "history" but that is crap because pagan religions are History, why are they not truth? Maybe they are. What about Mayan/Aztecs religions? They are too part of history. So what those preachers of whatever religion say just assume as stories. They are brainwashed with too much fables. It is good to take in minimal amount. But do learn their good stuff and avoid the bad stuff. So we will be universal in the way we think, and be a good person as preached in most religions (ie Hindusim, Taoism, Buddhism, Islam, Christianity, Judaism, etc all promotes being a good person). Not relating everything to god which is not right. That is extremism.)

Negative my post modern thinking friend. Check out the Ten Commandments. You and I have broken everyone of them in either word, thought or deed continuously our whole lives and are guilty before God and suffer eternity in Hell because we have offended a Holy, Righteous God. But God is good in that He became a man born of a virgin and died for our sins crucified on a cross and rose from the dead defeating death. If you repent (not only ask forgiveness but stop doing that sin) and trust Jesus to save you from the wrath of God on Judgment Day then you will be saved.

Screw that relativistic ethics claptrap. Only people who peddle relativism in ethics are those who don't have to live on the ugly end of its consequences. Conclusions as to right and wrong don't come from "perceptions", they come from CONSEQUENCES. What would be basis for LAW, for example, if right and wrong were merely relative?
Suggest you do a LOT more reading in ethics (Plato, Acquinus, etc.), law and economics (Posner) before taking that weirdness to heart.
As for us being our own god ... well ... God Forbid we should inflict that on the universe! Hey! We're not alone here, in case you haven't noticed! Pollution! Trespass!
Silly humans.

I did not create myself and I certainly didn't create heaven and earth. I believe in the Lord our God, Creator of heaven and earth. I believe in the Word of the Lord - the Bible. Sin is defined in the Bible, so I do not decide what is a sin. I follow the defined guidelines in the Bible that establish a behavior that is pleasing to the Lord.

I think I understand what you are saying and I believe that to a great extent we set for ourselves the standard for our judgment by how we follow what we believe to be right and how we judge, forgive, or deny forgiveness to others.
However, if you believe in a judgment, there must be a judge. Our faithfulness to a law or our conscience doesn't make us a judge, but rather presents our case for consideration to the Judge.
Personally, I do believe in God and in judgment, but I truly believe that we will be judged by what is in our hearts and how we judged others. And there's no shortage of people that think I'm going to hell for that.

My personal belief is that after you physically die you are either sent to Heaven or Hell based on your actions, to which your beliefs may differ.
now to your question:
With respect to God, not really. Though in reference to the Judgment we are the ones who ultimately decide our fate. God does not send a person to heaven or hell, the individual makes that decision through their own actions.
As far as being God, there are so many aspects of God that we do not have the capacity to comprehend, Such as creating the universe. God has us on that one.
Again, these are my beliefs, and I do not profess to know it all so we may differ in opinion.

I believe the Bible, say what you will, and that is not what it tells me. God is my creator, and I did not create myself. I thought I was my own higher power until I met God. Today I accept that He is the only Judge of right and wrong.
