Depending on who you believe, it's either short for "God's Blood" or "By Our Lady." Technically, that would make it sacrilege as well as swearing.

A friend of mine says that "bloody" has lost some of its shock value over the years but that it's still not something you'd necessarily want to say to the Queen.

they use it in front of curse words to make it sound worse..like for example: What the bloody f*** is going on here blokes?!!!
