Love is an action. Its a verb. you can do something to someone else without them doing it back to you. Like you can touch someone without them touching you back.

If you think that person loves you, then it sure is possible. Then,,, one mysterious and moonlit night you find yourself starring out the window, wondering if they do, why they changed or did you wrong and poof!! It hits you! They lied or changed their mind or cheated or used you for something-maybe even a childish game, manipulated you and just when they had the power of knowing you cared, they decided to back off and vanish or let the truth be known. It is so f-ed up and wrong. By that time, you just want to make it work because you did develop true feelings for them and you put a lot of time and effort into this thing --too much to see it or comprehend it all going away or being a big joke. So then, you feel the denial and the bargaining and all that pain to finally-- you get to acceptance--like in the grieving process. Then you can make it. So yes, it happens all the time. If it didn't, people would be married sooner maybe silly and relationships would last.

Of course you can love some one who doesn't love you. However, yes it would probably be a waste of your time and energy pursuing it. As far as loving goes, I love all humanity, but I am sure that they don't all love me back. That is okay, in that sense it doesn't have to be reciprocal...in a relationship it tends to be very sad when one loves and the other one doesn't. Mutual love and respect are two main ingredients for a relationship to truly be successful.

Absolutely, you can love someone without it being reciprocal. Remember energy is never destroyed, it just changes. So take your energy and move on to someone who shares the same feels.

Love doesn't come with the promise of reciprocation... it's a gift you have to give with the gamble of not recieving it in return. If you're really lucky... they'll give you their heart in trade. But if that person doesn't feel the same way towards you, it doesn't mean that you're feelings aren't true... our feelings created by noone other than ourself.

Yes, my friend, it is possible to be madly in love with someone and them not have a clue. It's been a cross that I've been bearing for several years now. She does love me as a friend, but that's not what I feel for her. My feelings go way beyond that. It sucks, big time, but you have to learn to deal with it, or it will eventually consume you. Good luck and God Bless!

YES...I ABSOLUTELY THINK THAT IT'S POSSIBLE TO LOVE SOMEONE THAT DOESN'T LOVE YOU. I WAS IN THAT SITUATION BEFORE AND I LOVED HIM MERELY BECAUSE I WAS LIVING IN A FANTASY WORLD WHERE I WANTED HIM TO LOVE ME SO MUCH THAT I FELT THAT IF I SHOWED HIM WHAT LOVE WAS, THAT SOMEDAY HE WOULD DEEM ME WORTHY ENOUGH TO LOVE ME BACK. I WAS IN LOVE WITH THE "IDEA" OF LOVING HIM.
NEEDLESS TO SAY, THAT WAS 8 YEARS AGO WHEN I HAD NO CLUE OF WHAT LOVE WAS OR WHAT REAL LOVE FELT LIKE FROM ANYONE OTHER THAN MY PARENTS. I WOULDN'T WISH THE FEELING OF LOVING SOMEONE AND IT NOT BE RECIPROCATED, ON MY WORST ENEMY.
I DIDN'T STOP BEING STUCK ON STUPID, WAITING TO GET DUMBER, UNTIL I LEARNED TO LOVE MYSELF. I AM NOW IN VERY LOVING RELATIONSHIP WITH SOMEONE THAT DEFINITELY TREATS ME WITH THE UTMOST RESPECT AND LOVES ME MORE THAN LIFE ITSELF!

good question. *pondering* i think that you can be in love with someone not in love with you. they may not know it yet, or feel the same way, but it can still happen. It also happens when people delude themselves into thinking the other person loves them.
