some of the symptoms are staring, shaking, and not knowing where he is at afterwords

It is the seizures doing this. New meds might help. How long has this been going on?I pray things get better.

My brother used to take seizures all the time up until he had surgery. After the seizures he would have memory loss and hallucinations. I think it is a normal thing for people who take the really bad seizures where they shake and twitch. It's probably a result of the seizure messing with the brain cells.

This could be a form of epilepsy, or grand mal seizures.

It could be a tumor, it could be a lot of things, get them to a doctor as soon as possible.
