They don't want their buddies to think they are so soft-hearted or a sissy or anything.

Ah, the Danny Zuko Syndrome.
Actually we act differently around a lot of people -- in church, on the street, in front of a cop.
The behavior difference between best buddies and girlfriends seems huge!

Men are just showing off around their friends. If he is sensitive to you in a variety of ways that is probably his true self

The reason, as is the case with most human behaviour, is primeval. In this case it is based on a primative instinct which can be seen in most primates to not show weakness in a group of peers or risk being ostrasised, down-graded, or even set upon. It is also the case that men with higher IQs are less prone to this kind of primitave behaviour - so find yourself a clever boyfriend! :-)

Bcuz they need to keep their images up in front of the buddies. Almost eveything a guy does or does not is bcuz of something a buddy has said.

It's all an act. Guys love to be loved and nurtured and kissed and pampered. BUT! This behavior is not allowed in front of their mates! It's a stereotypical analogy which stems from how their fathers taught them to behave!

Mostly because they have to show off in order to be "cool". Guys are complicated and nobody knows everything about them . Even if they hang out with them there whole life or just 1 day! Guys are just that way.

It is the macho bull at work...watch the movie, Grease...puts it out there...exactly what is going on. Boys can be such idiots when they want to be. Grown men are much less like this, but even then, some of this remains. Good luck

While a some guys act this way because they are still immature, they may grow out of it someday. Realize not ALL guys act this way, find a good one--you are worth it!

It's a social chameleon-thing... Probably the same reason when women all get together, they'll act differently than when they're in the company of men...
