It is never too late or early to start applying for scholarships.

There are scholarships out there with an early deadline. The internet provides free search sources such as Fastweb.com in which there is an reminder or new scholarship opportunity service.

The high school and college has a list of available scholarships too. These should never be overlooked because some of them are not an automatic application if you are currently attending or planning on attending the particular school or college.

Also apply early to both the college and FAFSA.ed.gov because some need based scholarships and grants can have an early deadline. The earliest you can file a FAFSA form is in early January.

Start applying for scholarships right now. Having a whole year to apply to a lot of scholarships will raise your chances of actually getting one. Being stuck with only a few months to apply for scholarships is not fun.
As for your college application find out when the colleges you want to apply for start taking applications and fill them out so you can send them in with plenty of time.

If your sure your going to graduate today would be best. Apply for everything School, Scholarships, and FAFSA. Most scholarships and student loans will allow you to enter 5 or 6 schools so you don't have to know where you are going, just an idea of where you want to do. And don't make the most common mistake and only apply for the most prestigious or schools that you want to go for. Have a back up. Like myself I got into the school I wanted, but when I got there I didnt like it. I had applied for the local state school when I was doing everything. So when I decided during my 1st semester I didnt want to go to the school of my choice anymore I just had to make a phone call and my approved admitance was reinstated. Saved me b/c if I would have to apply from scratch I wouldnt have gotten in due to # of students who had applied for the spring semester.

Start looking day one of senior year. Don't wait, a lot of them have deadlines in mid year. MSU, in Missoula has a great scholarship called the Presidentilal Scholarship but the app is due in February! We missed it by about 2 weeks.

My son had full ride scholarships, he started as a junior, you should be doing interviews by now, get on it now! And remember only 18% of the available scholarships are used. Quaterhorse Magazine will give you 500.oo for telling them why you like horses start now there is lots of money out there.

The earlier the better, in fact I would recommend starting now. Early decision deadlines are typically in December. Sudents who have their applications in before that deadline and meet the schools criteria have a better chance of getting in and securing a place in the freshman class than if they sit around and wait until later in the year.
