i think u should just try to talk to him calmly...u know without shouting and stuff. try to explain that u just wanna be friends and u really arent interested...or just try hooking him up wit som1 else

If you like him just as a friend, you can go out with him. There is nothing wrong with friends of the opposite sex going out but make sure you make it clear to him you are not interested in him romantically. If he gets the impression that you are, or may be interested in him in that kind of way, you could break his heart or worse, he could become violent or just merely loose his friendship. If you want go out with him but be careful.

Tell him you're not ready. I had to do it to my best friend in college, and we are still close. If we would have dated back then, then we probably wouldn't still be BEST friends. I love him so dearly, and I may be ready now. But he's in NYC and I'm in MS. But at least we're still friends.

He asked you out because he likes you. Try to break it to him gently that you don't want to go out with him, but the fact is, his feelings WILL be hurt. No matter what.
