I have the same problem and have tried various solutions, all of which worked to certain degrees, but not perfect. But these are your options.

(1) Wash your hair with voluming shampoo, do not use conditioner. After you are done blow-drying and styling your hair, blow dry more with cold wind. That will keep the volume.

(2) Perm your hair. (This is what I have now. I still like the straight hair look so I permed my hair and blow dry straight...a lot of work but has volume)

(3) Highlight your hair. That will give the illusion of depth and more volume.

(4) Make sure you layer your cuts. Do not keep hair too long because the weight will be too much.

(5) Make sure you blow dry with head up side down.

It is hard to tell, it depends on the length and thickness of your hair and your hair type. I would recommend professional help. Stop in and see a hairdresser and ask for a recommendation. It may be as simple as changing your shampoo or maybe you need a layered cut that you can boost up with some mousse or something. If you blow-dry your hair alot, you could damage it in the long-run. Stay away from anything that could weigh it down and cause it to look flat and/or oily like too many people do. Stop in several salons and get different ideas. Good Luck.

You sound like me! I had been fretting over this problem for so long when I finally tried something simple that worked wonders. And I mean simple-it takes me less than two minutes. I'm not sure if this will work for you, especially if you have long hair (get it cut shorter to add more volume), but all I do is this:

Flip my head over, brush my hair
Brush it back so that there is no part
Immediately spray the top
Gently brush out the surface of the hair without messing up the top.

In a few minutes or in some cases instantly, the top of your hair will start standing up. If this doesn't work, blow dry the top with on LOW for a couple of seconds. I hope this works for you! Good luck!

As insane as it sounds, but if you dye your hair, even the same colour, it will add volume to your hair. It also, for some reason, makes it easier to curl and the curls seem to stay in longer.

Good luck with the hair.

properly at first do no longer use any gel or hairspray on it reason which will at last make it look grimy or greasy after it wears off; i recommend utilising a dry shampoo which incorporate Ojon's rub out air purifier that's going to thicken your hair devoid of looking powdery or greasy and works properly once you tease with a toothed comb or blow dry your hair with a around brush

Get shorter layers cut in your hair and use thickening mousse (PPS makes a good one). Finish it off with blowdrying your hair upside down and spraying with volumising hairspray. Whoever said not to use conditioner, you are a total moron.

Blow dry your hair with your head upside down. Then, still upside down, spray with spray mousse. Works for me.

I blow dry my hair daily upside down and I have it highlighted on a regular basis. I also use curling iron and hairspray........
