i think you should be friends but also flirt with him and see how he reacts to it. make sure he feels comfortable with you and get to know him better

If everyone's into him, then he must be pretty cool.. But if he's just hot and is a dumbass, pass over him. Look for guys who are just sweet and smart, because they make the very best boyfriends.
Or you can just jump on the bandwagon and try to be better than all the other girls, but i wouldn't recommend it. Just let it roll, see what kind of girls he likes.

You just have to find a way to stand out of all those girls and make him notice you. First step is be friends with him. A relationship starts with that. Then compliment him for what he does great for example he plays guitar compliment him like "Wow! You're really good. I wish I can do that!" Don't be obvious to him and play hard to get. Join a school activity that shows your talent so he'll notice you. And most of all be yourself!!!

TO...start off..stay...friends... Work at getting to know him..and let him get to know you...but the real YOU!.. Yeah...girls are going to fall all over him...but since his is the new boy...they will come and go.. and YOU.. will be there...as his friend and He will NOT get tired of you. dont make the first move, but DO let him know that you exist. Show him that you are different than other girls...and let him come and get u. guys like to hunt and work for their girls...atleast for longer type relationships.
