They passed a law that allowed for stricter penalties for renting to illigeal immigrants and employing them. I hope every city in the United States can do this!!!! What do you think?

I live in Pennsylvania (not far from Hazelton). I am all for upholding the laws in America. However, there are already laws that make illegal immigrants illegal. (Otherwise, they would be legal.) The problem I have with the Hazelton law is not what it does to the illegals. I have a problem with how it effects the legals who are born looking like illegals...it will bring on harassment that is basically legalized by the local Hazelton Government.

Judging from your avatar, I am guessing that if you lived in a Northern state during the US Civil War, you would not have wanted to travel to a Southern state for fear of being mistaken as a slave. I think this should make you feel sympathetic, not for those who are here illegally, but for the Latinos who are legal citizens of the the US and live in Hazelton.

For this reason, I think that the way Hazelton is dealing with illegal immigration is not the best path to take.

I think, like every other state law that has tried this, it will be declared invalid. Congress has legislatively preempted any laws dealing with immigration issues. Under Congressional mandate, states and cities are not allowed to enforce immigration rules.

So, maybe the solution is fixing Congress, so the states can take action.

The Mayor of Hazelton has guts. Their crime rates etc had skyrocketed due to the illegals. He's just trying to protect his town as is his duty. Wish more local officials had some guts.

The illegals are exactly like a cancer spreading though a body, it has to be stopped somewhere or American will die, drowned in the millions of parasites migrating north.

NO, they stoped it and delayed it because they got sued. They are rewritting it so it will hold up better in court. I think they are waiting to see if congress does something this month. Its a shame, they were an idol for all americans.

I wish someone would sue Lulac and the muslim extremist that work for ACLU

heck yeah...fine those employers and housing agents and propert owners and managers....there have been several other states and counties that are enacting similar laws...the largest fine i have heard of was for property managers...for $1,000 for every illegal they rented to in Pennsylvania...and i hope that it soon hits all across the country...drive those morons out and give those jobs and money back that they are not entitled to...and for those of you who may think i am being racist...remember this...i am free of all prejudices...i hate everyone equally....
