Good luck to you in the next few weeks. Your kidney stone is larger than most. Do I ever feel for you!! During the last 20 plus years I have had many. Most I passed but the one that was 13MM they did lithotripsey on. (They knew it was there & said not to worry about it as it was causing no problems - but it just kept getting bigger till it decided to move on it's own). It took 3 different lithotripsey treatments to get the stone broken up small enough to finally all pass through. Actually, the procedures and passing it after broken up were not bad at all. I have also had one removed through basket retreival as well. There are so many ways they can help. After you have passed it, possibly your urologist will send you on to a specialist (nephrologist) who will determine what foods you should take it easy on eating, what drinks are best to drink, and what meds will help you from having them form again.

That is HUGE! I have a 5mm x 7mm in the lower pole of my left kidney. The doc said to leave it alon as it was not going anywhere.
That may require surgery to remove it. If not, they will probably push it back up into the kidney and use lithotripsy.
10 MM....Good Lord!!!! That thing's th' size of a 1958 Buick!!!!!!!

That is a pretty big stone. They say if they are bigger than 5mm they usually cannot pass on their own. All mine have been 6mm or smaller, but they can get that big. I had about 20+ kidney stones in the last 2 years so i know what you are going through they are very painful.

MY husband woke up in the middle of the night about 2 weeks ago in terrible pain, started throwing up and sweating profusely. I thought he was having a heart attack until I took him to the hospital. They diagnosed him with a kidney stone that was 6 mm. They allowed him to go home with some percocet and some other medication that apparently they use for men with enlarged prostates, it is supposed to relax the ureters and make it easier to pass the stone.

OUCH!!!!
That's terrible!! I just had to have a big one removed last month, and I promise you--there is NO pain as bad as a Kidney stone that's too big to pass--not even childbirth!!
Mine were a bunch of small stones clumped together--so you still have me beat in that regard.
Be sure and get a lab report of the chemical breakdown of your stone. That way you know how to avoid the culprit causing them. Mine was Calcium.
Anyway--feel better soon!!

If I read that as 10millimeters then yes that is big. That's a whole centimeter! Most of the time they are small. It starts to get to be a problem when they are larger than about 3mm in diameter because you can't naturally excrete it out - it gets stuck. Then you gotta go to the hospital for help fixing it.

Ya, thats big. My dad had one removed that was that size, and the doctor said that was very large. The average size is 2-3 mm if I remember correctly.
