The biblical way to know/discern who is a false teacher is by their confession. You know the bible says that we should test all spirits, that any spirit that doesn't confess that Christ is come in the flesh is not of God according to 1John 4:3. and 2 John 1:7, and also 1 John 2:18, 22.

Excellent Q..........
Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 1 John 4:1
If anyone teaches false doctrines and does not agree to the sound instruction of our Lord Jesus Christ and to godly teaching, he is conceited and understands nothing. He has an unhealthy interest in controversies and quarrels about words that result in envy, strife, malicious talk, evil suspicions -1 timothy 6:3
We simpy hold the teachings up to the light of the Gospel. False teachings can be avoided by.....
1. disciplined study of the Scriptures
2. guidance of the Holy Spirit
3. prayer
Scripture when youre a Christian becomes a part of you. Therefore a well trained Christian can spot a false teachings as easy as you could smell raw sewage.

I use my Bible to look up what they are teaching. Then praying about it gets me out of the natural and into the spiritually place I need to be in to understand what it is that God want me to understand.
You are right man can not understand spiritually thing but God has made away though Christ that we can become spiritually.
John 14:16 (Jesus is speaking) I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever.
He is talking about the Holly Spirit and with the Spirit living in us we can understand spiritual things.

You almost answered your own question, spiritual discernment, do the things they say and do line up with scripture and do they profess Jesus as the Lord without exception equal to God. You find imposters will know some of the right jargon but don't have that inner light or understanding.

ALWAYS: Where they put CHRIST in the Godhead.
Truth:
"that He died for our sins, He was buried, He rose the third day, was seen by Cephas, then the twelve."
I Corinthians 15:3-5
That He was WHO He said He was.
The correct doctrine is that there is only one God who is three persons: The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Each is not the same person as the other. Yet, there are not three gods, only one.
Jesus is not the same person as the Father. In the doctrine of the Trinity there are three persons in the Godhead: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We use the term "person" to describe each of the three because each displays attributes of personhood. Each has a will, speaks, loves, is self aware, and is aware of others. Yet, the Bible teaches that there is only one God (Isaiah 43:10; 44:6,8; 45:5,14,18,21,22). Therefore, the person of the Son is not the same person as the Father. They speak to each other and have their own wills.
John records Jesus saying about Himself:
"I said therefore to you, that you shall die in your sins; for unless you believe that I am, you shall die in your sins," (John 8:24).
"Jesus therefore said, "When you lift up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am He, and I do nothing on My own initiative, but I speak these things as the Father taught Me," (John 8:28).
"Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was born, I am," (John 8:58), see Exodus 3:14.
He IS:
He is God in flesh: "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God . . .and the Word became flesh and dwelt among us. . . ," (John 1:1,14).

Just listen to them!
Most can't stay in the word for more than 5 min.
They twist the verses. They have no idea what the word means.
Then some of them have a bit of an Idea, but they seem to get lost in there words.
There are a few (very damn few) that know the word, and can teach it.
Its just simple to me, like I don't understand why everybody can't discern the truth!

A true man of God lives by Gods' word. If anything that this person says or does goes against or contradicts the teachings of the Bible then I would think twice before getting advice from them. We, as Christians, need to study the word so that we can prepare ourselves against such false teachers.

I ask, " Do they mimic the Christ"?, "Are they part of this worldly system as in participation in wars and voting for human governments contrary to Christ's teachings"?, "Do they teach The Resurrection"?, "Do they constantly preach the good news of the Kingdom of God"?, "Do they Love Jehovah (Yahweh) God with their whole heart and mind and body and strength and Trust in Him for their salvation or do they look to human governments and this sytem for their very life"?
These are the Biblical proofs to go by. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.

The spirit itself tells you if it is true or false.
Act 17 - Church in Berea searched the scriptures daily to see if it is true what Paul taught.
The methodolgy is the same as the US treasury depratment - handle so much real money, that a forgery is easy to spot.
Learn what is true - then the false just is easy to spot
